not to get too off track, but i have a set of byo blizzard pups in a gibson i have,
and they're fantastic. i've tried bunches of pups, like most of you, and there
are some i like better ( mhd's ), but the blizzards sound really good, to me.

good on @jmm for stepping in and graciously providing additional context around
his pups as well.

Just dropped a Planet Tone ‘57 neck and ‘59 bridge in my ‘18 LP Traditional. Along with a new wiring harness to boot!

I have a set of their 59's in my 80 LP they sound really good. My only complaint which really isn't much is they use different sized adjusting screws that do not fit in the holes of standard rings and if you happen to lose one you're screwed until you get another. I did email them with this question and was told they use what they feel is needed for the product. I believe the stock size screws have proved themselves for years and a bigger screw isn't needed.

OP you're the one that has to listen to them. It is your money; So if you think they sound good then go for it.

and just about everything we get is sourced from America or the same factories that Gibson and Fender use. We have painstakingly done whatever it takes to get the best parts at the best prices.

Really?
Trivia time:
SO as not to reveal the name of the factory publicly, please name first names of the two people that deal exclusively in the guitar end of things at the factory that Gibson uses. Never seen a base-plate like that coming from them.
How about the owner of the plastic injection factory that Fender uses? It's also the same factory that does injection work for PRS, Duncan, and Lace, by the way.

You're aware of Gavitt, so I'm hopeful...

I just installed a set of blues heritage in my Las Paul, and I have to say I was very skeptical. But that all disappeared the first time I plugged in my guitar, don't listen to the haters and do yourself a favour while saving some money. These pups are the real deal, best pups I have installed in my Las Paul, and I have tried quite a few. If tone and clarity is what you seek, the blues heritage will end your search. Have a set of full throttle on its way for my explorer, and probably be buying more sets for my other guitars.

You just happen to register only to do this post? Pretty suspicious, if you ask me.

If you look at other participants praising this p'up brand in this very thread, they all just registered and posted only here. I think this small piece of data alone says it all.

Looks like today, winding p'ups is a popular way to turn a fast buck... even with the competition of about literally over three hundred others in the american market alone? Talking about a bad investment... :(

You can be suspicious all you want, obviously you don't know what you are talking about. I like these pups alot and thought I would share it here with fellow Les Paul owners. Try them out then make an informed decision, for 60$ you are not out of alot of money .

Just to supply some balance to your paranoia. I'm a long time member and I mostly hang out in the Luthier Corner. I build guitars. Mostly 50 spec LPs and use a set of Wizz' in my own '59 replica. If you are not familiar with them; they are a boutique builder and only use the best materials with a price to match. I get the impression they are highly regarded on this forum. To my ears they are the best PAF replica's out there. Both in sound and look.

Now with that being said... I have a set of PlanetTone 57 Humbuckers in another LP and they really sound almost just as good! Same dynamics, same sweet top end, same feel, same vintage voiced coil mismatch. I went with Wizz' for the sake of full on historic accuracy as that was the goal for that guitar, but if that isn't a big deal for you this set gets you there as well. At about 1/4 of the cost.

Perfect guitar pickups don't have to cost a lot, its just that so many bad pickups come in cheap guitars, the sort of thing you can buy for $10 on Amazon, with low quality materials and construction, people get scared away from anything that seems remotely cheap. $60 is low cost by USA made pickup standards, but even $60 is still way more expensive than most of the stock pickups that come loaded in important electric guitars. The cheapest of the cheap, I see two humbuckers on Amazon for $14, no branding, that's $7 per humbucker. That's the true bottom, certainly not $60.

I put a set of Pasadena 78's in my Heritage H-150. Without a doubt the best pups's I ever owed and yes, Ive owed a lot. Ive had two perfect guitars in my life time. The H-150 with Planet Tones and a ash Les Paul with EMG HZ's (yeah, I know). Its a great feeling to find that perfect tone and not have to dick with your guitar anymore. I personally dont care what there made of. They sound fantastic and thats what should count. I plan on my buying more for other guitars I have. I hope he doest raise the price to some absurd level, because that some how make them better? I wonder if he charged $300 a set, he would some how get more respect?

I aquired a 90s squire Pro tone with the Elite Strat Pickup, this quitar was modded to the max, the owner chose these. They are fantastic, and as a rule I'm a Duncan snob. Normally only buy JB, Custom v, and customs.......based on how fantastic the elite strat set sounds I'm ordering an agressor and a 59 for a harley Benton fusion, and a set of Full Throttle for one of my les Paul's.

Planet Tone are handwound by a guy in Colorado. Haven't tried his HBs, but recently bought a P-90 from him, and it sounds fantastic. Put it in an LP Jr build I did and really like the sound. For the price I'll be trying some 'buckers in the near future...
What part of Colorado ?
I'm going to Pueblo, Colorado in late October .
Maybe, I could talk to the guy about pickups .

I haven't tried more pricey boutique pickups yet to compare but for the money, especially when they are routinely on sale for 20% off they are an awesome bang for the buck. I have an ibanez hardtail with a 78 pasadena neck and full throttle bridge pickup that sounds great and articulate, I will never change that guitar. Elite 90's in a humbucker size in a washburn 335 that I love as well.
I have a blues heritage neck and aggressor bridge in an cheap sg copy that Is ok but I think they will sound much better in a good les paul so I need to swap those in and see how they sound.

I have a couple sets as well, you really can't beat them for the price, especially when on sale. They are very clear sounding pickups.

I’m also curious about where you source the parts from. My mounting screws that fit Seymour pickups are smaller than yours while the screw for the overseas pickup I was swapping out fit.

To me, pickups .... are just pickups.
Changing speakers out will make a bigger difference in sound changes, than pickups changes .

Yeah. But it’s way easier and cheaper to change pickups then to change speakers. And you’re totally wrong. Pickups make a huge difference.

There are differences between pickup types such as P-90, Fender single, humbucker, mini humbucker and lipstick tube.
The speaker is the end of the sound chain and makes more difference than pickups, pots & caps or tubes.

Well of course. But once you’re settled on what speakers you’re going to be using with whatever amp you’re using the logical thing to do if you need to tweak a guitar is change the pickup.
