Pearly Gates Neck.
At some point try swapping out that JB for a Custom or Distortion.
You can thank me later. :D

SD Jazz..... great combo, that's what is in my Classic right now.

There are other possibilities as well, and yes some do not like the JB but it's fine and Seymour's personal favorite set as well.

Duncan Custom is one of my favorite from the Duncan line. I have a JB in my Kramer, but I installed a CTS 250K pot to tame down the harshness. Did you try adjusting the height and or pole pieces on the Jazz?

Although this statement is probably not true, the Slash neck pickup would sound great in that Epi. It adds liveliness that the Epi will appreciate, and if the low end was a concern, the Slash pickup is very open and clear in the low end, with no mud.
