Can you guys tell me what these marking mean?
I'm guessing the markings "TB" mean Teaburst?
But what about the other markings?

And my Burstbuckers are labled #1 and #2 ... are these the same as Burstbucker Pros? :hmm:

Thanks! :)

I guess the TB is TobaccoBurst. But no the Burstbucker 1 & 2 are not like the BBPros. Sorry.

LP6F - is the Gibson product code for the LP Standard Faded 60's neck.

TB is the color code for Tobacco burst.

TB is the color code for Tobaccoo burst.

Thanks for the info! :)

The finish doesn't look like "tobacco burst" to me, but I guess I could be wrong. :hmm:
And no, my guitar isn't chambered.

It's an '05 Standard Faded ..
Weren't they suppose to come with Burstbucker Pros?

I have the exact same markings in my '07 LP Stanbdard Faded except that mine has the 50's style neck (LP5F instead of LP6F). Mine is a Tobacco Burst.

If that's the same guitar in your avatar, it's gorgeous! :)
The finish is very similar, though it looks like you have a much nicer top.

Have you ever looked at your pickups?
Are they Pros? or #1 and #2's? :hmm:

If I am not mistaken, it should have come with BB Pro's. But if you got BB 1's and 2's, then you are much better off. The Pros suck IMO.

While we're talking about this, I'll ask y'all about my 2003 Studio Plus. The bridge pickup cavity says "LP0+" and the neck cavity says "DB" and then two things that look like triangles, smaller and higher than the "DB"--like two Greek-letter superscripts of the letter delta. I guess the DB means "desert burst," but do the little triangles mean anything, or was the guy just warming up his pen? What about the 0 in between LP and + ? Thanks! --ken

Yep ... everything I've read says it's suppose to come with Burstbucker Pros.
Weird. :hmm:

Cool, thanks.
Does anyone know if Gibson ever put Burstbucker #1's and #2's in their Standard Faded model? :hmm:

They definately look factory installed.

IIRC, those are BB Pro's.

AL V = Alnico V magnets

#1 is the neck, #2 is the bridge

These are not the same as BB 1 (Alnico I) or BB 2 (Alnico II) pickups.

Cheers!

The "O" for Studio makes sense since "S" or "ST" would get mistaken for Standard. Could the two little triangles be "AA" in reference to the flame on the top?

As far as the original poster's faded LP, according to his serial number his is an early faded LP (spring 2005) which may have come with Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups instead of the Pros. The problem is, according to the Gibson website the 1 and 2 currently have alnico II magnets and the Pro has alnico V. Maybe the previous reply regarding the 1 and 2 meaning neck and bridge is correct, but I've never seen it before. Here's a photo of the pickups and cavities on my 2007 faded tobaccoburst with '50s neck.

You can clearly see the stickers say "Pro".

After typing all this, I just decided to call Gibson customer service and was told "faded Standards have always had Pros. They used to sometimes label them 1 and 2 to indicate neck or bridge". Mystery solved and i learned something new today. Good call GeeJay.
