Since I haven't been very successful in trading my LP for a PRS (imagine that) I suppose I'm going to hang on to it for now...
I'm trying to decide if I should install the pickguard... Opinions?

I think it looks better without one. And if you do decide to put one on, get one of the ones that stick on so you don't have to drill any holes in it. I'm not sure exactly where I saw the stick on ones but hopefully someone else can post a link.

I've seen the ones that screw into the pickup rings instead of into the wood itself... Maybe I should try to find one of those. =P

I prefer WITH pickguard....

+1...I just don't get why some people take the pickguards off their Les Pauls. They just look so much classier with them. For me, 3 visual elements make up the Paul look: arched top, 4 knobs, and the pickguard. Take any of those away and it just looks like a knockoff.

But hey, it's not my guitar, so who am I to judge?

Without. Since you already own one why would you want to buy one that mounts under the pup rings? Gorgeous instrument btw.

I recently got a black R7 with a natural back, and it came w/o the pickguard installed or holes drilled. This was part of the "Wldwood Spec" run of guitars, most of which do have the pick guards installed, which to me is the "classic look".

But I think I'll leave it as is for now.
