Since I haven't been very successful in trading my LP for a PRS (imagine that) I suppose I'm going to hang on to it for now... I'm trying to decide if I should install the pickguard... Opinions?
I think it looks better without one. And if you do decide to put one on, get one of the ones that stick on so you don't have to drill any holes in it. I'm not sure exactly where I saw the stick on ones but hopefully someone else can post a link.
I vote for the pickguard. I'm surprised you haven't been successful trading your LP for a PRS, and I'm more surprised you're even trading an LP for a PRS.
+1...I just don't get why some people take the pickguards off their Les Pauls. They just look so much classier with them. For me, 3 visual elements make up the Paul look: arched top, 4 knobs, and the pickguard. Take any of those away and it just looks like a knockoff.
But hey, it's not my guitar, so who am I to judge?
I recently got a black R7 with a natural back, and it came w/o the pickguard installed or holes drilled. This was part of the "Wldwood Spec" run of guitars, most of which do have the pick guards installed, which to me is the "classic look".
