Wegen Gypsy Jazz, 3.5 mm, one new and one sanded and buffed on the bevels and worked in over a few weeks of pretty assertive, even aggressive practicing and playing.

... because the wear patterns that develop and the bevels we craft, intentionally or that develop naturally, are very interesting to me. You? What's happening with your picks? Let's see more pics of the picks.
I used to use thinner picks, but now I use one pick for everything. The Dunlop Jazzmaster III (Red) and I think they only come in 1.38mm thickness. It's a very small pick, but you can get them normal size (called XL).
I haven't noticed any wear on these. They are nylon. I've been using the same pick for months now and no wear. I love them. I tried dozens of picks before finally settling on these, but I also had to get more experience before I liked the thick picks, and then the little jazz picks like these. I hate full sized picks now. To me it feels like the difference between using a sledge hammer and a scalpel.
For me, its grip. If I hadn't found the Jazz iIi or similar, I'd be gluing sand paper and emery cloth to the damn things. It's not just thickness. Its grip and manipulating it.
