My 2018 LP Classic Player Plus came with an uninstalled black pickguard that I did not install. Instead I bought all replacement cream plastics and vintage-style knobs that I absolutely DID install. With P90s, a no-weight-relief body, an early-style sunburst, and a 50s "rounded" neck I was very purposefully going for an overall 1950s vibe (i.e., no money for a real R6). The funny thing is that the heaviest flamed part of the top was the part that I put the pickguard right over. Oh well ... LOL.

The cream pick guard looks good with the P90s. Weight relief is for women. Hah

i have a 2016 traditional HP.pickguard has 3 little prongs that slide into the bottom of the pickup rings, you can install and remove it in 10 seconds and there are no visible holes in the guitar.

I look at it this way, if I had a '59 Les Paul standard, it would definitely have holes in it!

Seriously though, these screw holes are unnoticeable while playing.

People watching most definitely won't see them either.

So it's more of a psychological thing because you know you they're there.

I’ve only purchased one Les Paul that came with the pickguard uninstalled and in the case. When I installed it, it wouldn’t fit without repositioning the pickup rings. That’s my complaint.

It's not a 'pick', it's a plectrum.

Ergo, it's not a 'pickguard', it's a scratchplate, as it prevents scratches from getting on the body of the guitar.

Harrumph! Harrumph! Harrumph!

The above is a Public Service Announcement so that y'all get it right in the future.

It is provided free-of-charge so y'all can speak the proper Queen's English, like wot I do, ya know! :dude:
