OK, I promise this is the last "which speaker do I want?" post. Sorry, to belabor the point, I just really want to get the best bang for the buck. For one reason or another, I am leaning towards pairing a WGS Vet 30 with a WGS ET65 -or- a Hellatone 30 with a Hellatone 60.

Thoughts?

Also, who supplies those slick Phaez emblems (w/ the tube logo)?

Thanks and again, sorry to keep harping on the speaker question...

John

just a heads up. please don't overlook the atlas modified hempcone:wow:

2 of those suckers are heaven.:D
thank me later:thumb:

muddy, stop the madness, there's always room for another amp
even more so when it's phaez

to be honest
if ya held a gun to my head and made me choose

between my jtm and the Mcclain

i'd have to choose the mcclain
and thats saying something.
as the jtm is an ultimate amp

but just when i thought i had randy's best ,he goes and throws me a curve ball

i guess it's another amp that is added to the 'best of' list

but i'm tellin' ya. it's special.

the proof will be when a few of them hit the forum.

Sorry guys but I need to clarify something. Its McClane not McClain. McClain is a boiler as in Weil McClain. McClane is a "TONEHOG" or a "TONE MONSTER"!!!
I have a Weber 12" Silver Bell 16ohm 30w coming for my McClane shortly. I think this should be a real nice match. I'm just gonna have to remember 16 ohms and not 8 ohms.

I pulled out my PRS McCarty w/ P90's and played it through the DC8 and was loving the tones I was getting with that rig. Very different from the Strat. Surprisingly, it seemed easier to get great cleans with the P90's than it was with the Strat - either on the humbucker or single coils - but maybe that is just how I had it EQ'd when I was playing the Strat.

It may be a bit before I can give the DC8 a good workout, so for now it will just be in small doses. So far this is a very promising amp. Another great job by Randy, and Bob of Sourmash for the cab.

The DC loves p90's!! My SG Classic rips through it. I think it's much easier to dial in a good settings for p90's. It took me a little longer for humbuckers because there is so much gain available. Once you find YOUR setting it will sound like heaven.

McClane is an 18W Trainwreck Express type circuit, but with a few nice tweaks! Tonehog=McClane

McCLANE comes from our protagonist in Die Hard, btw

a "DUFRESNE" will be coming up soon
You guys certainly know him don't you? Had a profound influence on my life

Additionally, I just started putting my music up - itunes, amazon, and about 20 others online sources. Search Xylaruus. If you have coupons for free amazon or itunes downloads, use 'em for Xylaruus (ZI-la-rooce).
There will a quite a number, and I will point out some that feature a phaez amp - well, IF there is electric guitar noise in a track it'll be a PHAEZ.
Some will have a lot.
Peace.

I'm gonna guess you're not talking about the chef...

Actually, he (Wylie, the chef) has had a profound influence on my life if only as a shining example of what not to do...

I think that was Tim Robbins' characters name in Shawshank Redemption too. Andy Dufresne.

I wish I could tell you that Andy fought the good fight, and the Sisters let him be. I wish I could tell you that - but prison is no fairy-tale world.

I need speaker help/suggestions for my Corona that is going to be built. For whatever reason I have decided that I want a 2x10 for this. I have been looking at the Weber Cali's or the Weber DT's. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I think I'm going to get an unfinished cab from TRM and support my home state. I figure staining is easier than tolex and if I [email protected]&k up the stain, well I guess I'll try my hand with tolex lol

Funny you should put those together. I have a Corona, which I often play through a pair of DT10s, in a TRM cab, in my case a vertical slant top, closed back. This is one of my favorite setups. I love these speakers. They're really warm, but articulate, with a huge, punchy, lower end. I tend to turn up the treble and bright knobs, and it produces what is normally too bright and sharp for me in a beautifully musical fashion. Plus, they have nice cone breakup, which to me helps make BF cleans come alive. The reasonably inneficiency is just a bonus.

But, they're about as far away from a Cali as it gets. I have one too, albeit a 15". Big, bold, rich clean tones. Sharp, nasty, painful OD tones. I haven't given up on it, but I wouldn't want it to be my only speaker, unless I just wanted big, bold cleans.

I've also used a whole lot of other speakers with it. It's my go-to amp, so anything that comes into my home gets a run w/ the Corona. The Blue Dog / Silver Bell is another standout. A 55hz Large H Greenback is also frequently used. I haven't been as into the Vintage American style speakers. Cool for certain things (they do a great old blues tone thing), but just not my everyday cup of tea. I'm probably forgetting about other good ones too... Lots of options, just depending on what you're looking for.

I chose the Corona to be a clean only amp. My JTM and DC take care of all of the gain I would ever need. I think I'll give the Cali's a shot first since I can pick up a used pair locally for a god deal

Calis are great for big and clean. I have only tried my 15", and I think I'd like to swap it for a 12" some time. Pretty classic, safe choice for the Corona.

Beware though. Once you start turning up that Corona, great things happen, and you may rethink this "clean only" thing... Super smooth, rich, creamy overdrive. Kinda distortion that I'd like to put in my coffee. Mmm...

Hey guys, I just bought the Winona that was in the Classifieds. Can anyone with a Duophonic, Blackdaisy, etc. with the 2 channels tell me can you use a ABY box and run both channels together?
