The tarantula is now named the Railgun, I think. It's based on a DC, but with extra gain and some AFD mojo.

Rosco - I'm on the road and could only listen to one of your clips while in a hotspot. Fantastic. I wish I had 10% of your talent. Thanks for sharing!

Rosco's clips reminded me how cool this MLP Phaez group is. So I thought I'd do something for the gang. After I get out of this shirt business, I am going to hold a random draw for a free Phaez kit build. Want a Phaez for under $400 but don't want to build a kit yourself? Enter the draw and if you win, I'll build your kit myself for free.

This is just a heads up. I still have two amps to build before holding the draw. I plan to hold several draws, depending on the level of interest....

proper review will have to wait until after saturday when i get this into the studio and properly cranked with a les paul. but some initial impressions from my bedroom with a strat.

-very touch sensitive.
-lots of that 80s hard rock gain.
-great EQ controls, especially the mid control. cranking the mid loads on much more cutting power. great for a strat. i never played an amp that had such amazing mid controll. mid all the way up sounds like a cranked plexi, and 1/4 it takes the characteristics of a tweed or blackface. obviously doesn't sound like the best blackface amps but the versatility is still there.
-clean sounds are great too!
-love the boost switch, it takes some gain off and make the amp have more clean headroom. just wish it was footswitchable so i can turn it on during a solo.
-****ing loud. i cant take this past 1/8th volume or my neighbors will get me in trouble with my building management :laugh2:
-build quality of the cab is amazing. beautiful attention to detail.
-overall vibe of this amp is that it was built with some serious smarts.

these are just first impressions after an hour of playing. i'll have more detailed stuff after i get some solid time with this thing.

Track 16 is pure dynamite Roscoe. Your buddy Bill did a great job recording this outdoor event.

My favorite part of mine is the mid dial. Just amazing how much it changes the voice of the amp. :thumb:
