Proof, if proof were needed, that merely owning good gear won't pay dividends unless you are prepared to put in the time.

My kind of wildlife shot. :thumb:

"A shopping centre manager who spent four years and clocked up 10,000 miles trying to capture his dream kingfisher picture finally nailed the perfect snap - with almost his 50,000th effort.

Gary Jones embarked on dozens of 400-mile round trips from Merseyside to Scotland trying to catch a kingfisher at the precise moment its beak hit the water.

And the father-of-one was rewarded when he landed this flawless photograph as the bird dived into a lake in search of fish."

Right at the point of impact. The beak is breaking the surface tension of the water at the very second this was snapped. How perfect. The reflection in the water is pretty awesome too.

that is a cool shot.

I laughed a little at..."And the father-of-one " ..:laugh2: yeah that's just called, 'A Father'. ..and really had no bearing on the story? ...I wonder sometimes why certain details are placed into stories,...or omitted.

Very cool shot though. I like that the beak is just touching the water.

So his 50k shot? How much is he selling the photos for? Oh wait too late. We can get them free here with no watermarks. :laugh2:

Hardly in the same league, but was seeing how close I could get to a heron on a dock while taking landscape pics when something attracted its' attention. Sat on a step with the camera pointed in the right direction (elbows resting bipod fashion on my knees) and clicked as I watched. Did not know what I caught till I checked it out. Pure dumb luck, but beats making 50k attempts.

So now we know Dilemma is really Gary Jones from Merseyside :laugh2:

Those pics are, like his, just amazing. Another good one:
