PedalTrain Mini Tips N Tricks

This thread is devoted to the Mini, one of my favorite small Boards that can be set-up to do the Job. Show Us Some Pedal Boards !

The new design has that small 1" profile all the way around now.

I am making a new Board now and I am doing some Mods that will give the Board
many new options. I like the old Analog Delay and Overdrive pedals, most people install 4-5 Pedals on the Mini but you can get 6 if you use the Lava Cables.

The first thing I did was I removed the four (4) cheap rubber glide(s) Feet by drilling out the rivets. I bought (4) new 1-1/2" round and 1-1/4" tall rubber feet/glides and (4) of smaller height sizes to make the back side taller if I want.
I'm using #10 x 1" and #10 x 3/4" Self-Drilling Hex Head machine thread screws.
This way when I drill the new holes the tap will have a fine thread and allow me to swap the glides if I wish.

I'm first setting up the Board with all 1-1/2" round by 1- 3/16" tall glides, raising the Board will allow me to upgrade the 1-spot to a larger power supply. The larger
1-1/2" round glides will also allow me to put the board on the top of smaller amps like a Princeton Reverb and the larger glides will give it more stability if the board sticks out over the side of the top of an amp. I usually put my Mini on the top of my amps so I can make adjustments easy.

My other Mod is using an old Blackface Fender Black Strap amp handle, installing the handle on the edge of the Pedalboard will allow me to carry it easy to put back in the soft case. I am just using the handle w/metal flat insert with the 2 screws w/washers and nuts to hold it on. I will not use the 2 silver end caps on the strap.

I had my girl cut and sew-in new Sheepskin in the top and bottom of the soft-case, now the pedals have killer protection. I cut the sheepskin to fit in the case tight and used one-piece. This way it was easy for her to sew the skin every 4-6" to hold the skin on. The bottom part of the skin does not need to be sewed, just the top part. I did not want to use any glue. Pics today, I ran out of Lava Cable Fittings, here is a pic of the Board before the Mods.

I don't use the Velcro that came with the board as it's cheap. I use the Velcro Brand Industrial Velcro, this stuff is the best. The entire Frame is wrapped with the Fuzzy Side (Hook).

I like these mod suggestions, especially the strap mod but I'd better get the industrial velco installed first! Here's my Mini. Nothing special but used tie-strap mounts under the frame to keep the wiring from looking messy. I'm using a One-Spot and have no power related noise issues at all. I'm just a home player and gear enthusiast.

I've shortened my noise pedal FX loop cable since this photo was taken so that top patch cable no longer loops the excess length underneath like this:

Cool Steve,

I wanted to mention I use the Industrial Velcro and the 15' Foot 2" Roll is about 20.00, and I use another Velcro product called One Wrap.

The One Wrap is strong enough to hold all the cables to the Wrapped Frame.

I recently finished modifying my PT-Mini to prep it for a complete rebuild of my board. I sold a bunch of effects that I rarely used to fund the build, the goal is to minimize repetetive effects while maximizing the usable space.

I bought an ISO-5 to power the board (fantastic power supply, can do 12v, 18v, 100ma 9v and 400ma 9v in a very small size) and modified it slightly to sit flat on the rear lip of the PT.

To organize the cables for my new build, I came up with an idea for a reusable ziptie system. I used two narrow strips of velcro on the underside of the board in the recessed tabs, and then cut the velcro into squares and put them on the ziptie brackets. This way I can tie everything down, but move the brackets around as I need to if pedals change or I need to add/remove something. I can also position them directly under specific pedals much easier. I made 10 squares.

My Mini.....

First there was a 25 year old Dyna Comp where the SP is. There was also a Uni-Vibe clone where the Reverb is now. The Reverb got bumped to the rear when I added the Ditto Looper a couple weeks ago. I can do anything with this little board. I have a bigger Pedal Train board but I use this one the most. I'm using a 1-Spot power supply.
