Hmmm. Good question. I'm not quite there yet, but it's more in the silicon Muff vein. The Maxon I mentioned last week sounds great:

Both my remaining Muffs have wonky footswitches at the moment though. I really really really like my Zap Machine - Hermans' demo makes it sound like just another random overdrive, Kayzer does a better job:

Green channel is very versatile and the red channel is just very pissed off.

Another favourite - Jeff Tweedy on "I'm The Man Who Loves You" (and what a song, btw):

Forgot some good fuzz!

Mick Ronson (Tonebender MkI through a very loud Marshall):

And more recently, Joey Santiago in Pixies has really expanded his pedal use. Verse/single note lines is a Boss FZ-5 (!) through his trusty old JCM800. Brutal!

today's silliness on my part - loop out from gigrig into looper which has triple wreck one loop, Xotic SL drive the other, then back into gigrig.

so when i activate the distortion loops of the gigrig i now have a choice of two distortions. yay!

Looks great Aly! Myself I've been home all day feeling absolutely rotten (a cold, throat-based as usual with me). I did get two dead pedals to work again though so it's not been a complete waste.

I like my fuzz to be organic, my NK 275 Sunface does a good job. Right now I am running it clean enough to still play 4 note chords (Major 7, excreta) and when I stack it with my RATT (also set up to give a little hair) they both explode. Onto, the other extreme, I also like to get a real spitty strange fuzz. Right now I am using my Fuzz Factory for that, but I will be replacing that with a WTF fuzz from Rockett.

NICE.

regarding the ongoing fuzz conversation -

i tend towards classic silicon fuzz face tones. Good enough for DG, good enough for me :D

I am with you on that one, germanium is to murky for me.
yeah. certainly with humbuckers it gets tricky. I loved the JB fuzz face, but i owned it back when i wasn't in the band, so i don't know how well it would have integrated.

mind you, i don't use fuzz at all currently. :hmm:

Bearing in mind the unpredictable nature of gigging environments, why don't they make pedals water/beer proof?
I saw a picture of a pedal board once that had a roll of industrial static cling wrap mounted off of one side - it appeared the user would just pull out a new strip to cover the entire pedal board as needed.
It kinda looked pretty skeezy, but it was transparent enough and seemed to work.:laugh2:

Switchback, yay! I wondered where you'd gone just a few days ago :) I'm tinkering away with my fuzzes while having an awful cold here.
