So it turns out that I don’t really need my SD-1 either. I’ve always been pretty lazy, just put all my knobs on 10 and roll. Turns out if I set the dirty channel on my Classic 30 to the really dirty sound I like with the volume pot turned all the way up, all I have to do is roll off about 20% of the volume to get the just breaking up tone that I like without losing volume. No need for the SD-1 at that point.

Add in the Bugg Muff on the bridge position and I have an almost Sabbath type tone and with the tone rolled off in the neck I can get a really good Cream type tone.

I do have an MIJ Tubescreamer that my wife picked up for me in Japan I’m waiting to get, so I’ll throw that on instead. Maybe add a FF type pedal to replace the SD-1, that’s a tone I can’t really replicate with just the Guitar controls and my amp.

I guess what I’m saying is I don’t really need 3 OD’s like I used to have and the muff can cover a lot of ground depending on how the Guitar is set up.

Ugghhh, I think I’m gonna sell the RP360XP. It’s great, sound awesome, pretty easy to use...and I still don’t want it anymore. I’m just gonna get a TC Flashback for my delay and something like a Palmer Pocket Amp or a SansAmp for going direct.

Hello all. Been awhile since I updated ya'll on my pedal journey and other things.

First off, last week was a bad week. I had a concert on Friday night and when I got up to leave the venue, I collapsed and passed out 3 or so times and was having trouble breathing and pain in my stomach and chest. They called an ambulance and took me to the Trauma Center. Luckily the venue is like 5 minutes away from the big medical center. It was an adrenal crisis. I hadn't been feeling well the two weeks prior to this happening, and it all culminated last Friday. I have adrenal insufficiency which means I don't produce any stress hormone so I can have a pretty bad spell when I get ill or injured or even just really stressed emotionally. My fight or flight system is broken basically. I've now doubled my daily corticosteroid and am waiting on blood work from my adrenal specialist (endocrinologist). I've normally been on the lowest dose possible because of weight gain but it's time to prioritize better and worry about staying alive. I had one back at Christmastime, though not as severe. This is the first time I've ever passed out with one of these crises and it was pretty scary. I'm doing well now and I should have went to the doctor when I was feeling bad but I didn't know what was causing it. I also have lost 20 pounds without trying in the last two weeks I found out. I had been running low on cortisol and didn't know it til this all happened.

So I haven't got any new pedals recently. It's been quite awhile for me, normally I'd have one or two by now.

Right now I'm in Tele mode. I dug out my old Keeley compressor and put it on the board. I did have a huge board but recently downsized back to a PT-2. Still has all the essentials for me anyway. I've been researching Tele pickup makers and there are so many I'd like to try but I love the pickups in all of my Teles now so I guess I'll have to get another sometime. I want to try Cavalier Pickups, he's on the Tele forum and has crazy low prices for his handmade pickups. 60 bucks (US) for his Tele bridge models. I don't care about neck pickups so much, I'm all about that bridge and anything in the neck is fine usually. I like a blackguard style Alnico III flatpole pickup ala a Broadcaster or Nocaster. More beefy tone, more crunch, but still some twang.

Some overdrives I want to get soon are the JHS Bonsai, Pettyjohn Gold, and maybe the Rockett Melody. I still want to get a HX Effects at some point to replace my M9. The Bonsai right now is stuck in my head, I really want that pedal. I love me some Tubescreamers as ya'll know by now. Midrange!

I also still love my JCM2000 for when I just want to play straight up rock n' roll with no frills except some delay and boost (right now it's a TC Flashback and a Rockett Rockaway Archer). I'm sticking with the green channel for cleans and crunch, but mostly crunch mode. Red channel is too hot for me. I want to get new speakers for my Marshall 4x12. I want to do a mix of Greenbacks and Vintage 30s in an X pattern. Balance of great Marshall tones.

I don't know what my next big gear purchase (guitar/amp) will be. I still want to get a vintage Silverface Princeton Reverb at some point. And I wouldn't mind another PRS but I might just look at a Custom Shop Tele or someone who makes T-Style guitars. I have 8 Teles, more than any other model and here I am wanting another. What's wrong with me! Honestly a lot of it is wanting to try more pickups without getting rid of what I like. I find tele bridge pickups to be wildly different from winder to winder. I know what I like, and even then each guy has a different take on that early Blackguard tone.

I think that's all for now. I'll post an updated board pic in a bit. 3 ODs and a boost - the lowest I've gone haha. Just enough to cover my needs.

Really been gassin for the Xotic Wah Pedal. Any one use one or have any thoughts on these?

I absolutely love mine. Very tweekable, smooth movement, smaller foot print and I mean look at it. Its awesome. You can get it in red too. I haven't messed with the internal dip switches too much but you can change the frequency range with them. Add boost up to 6db if you want. But the bias and wah q dials are quite versatile and what ive messed with the most.

i read somewhere that the instruction have some preset ideas to help you dial in a specific yearish kind of vibe is that accurate?

Also i heard that its a momentary switch meaning it doesnt activate right away there is a delay, and it wouldnt be useful in a regular jam/band setting. can you attest to that?

It does come with some recipes in the instruction manual to mimic classic wahs. And the momentary delay in turning on is something i havent really noticed. Im sure it would be something you could get used to. I use it sparingly anyways but almost exclusively in jam settings with multiple musicians and have no problem with it.
Worth every penny in my books.

Just broke my pedal buying abstinence with a order for a Wampler Tumnus Deluxe and Wampler Dual Fusion. I saw they were on sale and I heard a guy use them together in a video and the tone was sick so I had to.

Still going to get the JHS Bonsai soon.

I have been gone for a little while. Hang in there Austin. Health stuff can really be a drag.

I am so surprised because I was at GC the other day, and bought a used Xotic wha. I wonder how many MLP people bought a Xotic wha with in the last two weeks. I tested out the wha and in a few seconds I had dailed in a couple tones I loved. I have to wait until the periods of time for the local police to run a background check, to get the pedal home. I also bought a Pedaltrain Novo 32. I would say that after I get everything set up on the pedalboard it will be perfect but I would only be lying to my self.

I am thinking about getting a Menetone TBIAC. I did Vox tones but not sure if I really would use the pedal enough.

A pedal that is on my must have is the new Origin Effects RevivalDrive.

Well I got the new Tumnus Deluxe and Dual Fusion in and I LOVE them. The Dual Fusion is a baaaaad mamajamma. The best dual overdrive I've played and I absolutely love.

On a bum note, my BOSS GE-7 EQ that Ken graciously sent to me died. I opened it up and a wire broke off the power jack so when my dad can, he will solder it back and hope that it fixes it. I LOVE that pedal, and I'm prepared to buy another if I have to. It's been on my board for YEARS now.

Did I already mention, I am getting a Novo 32. I think that it will not be too, too big, for me to use. I guess I will have to find out. I always feel weird having a very large board. Another pedal I just bough is a Menatone TBIAC. If I can save up my money my next purchase will be a Origin Effects RevivalDrive. I am sure that will be my last pedal purchase... wait, I just thought of another pedal I want.

I received the novo 32. The TBIAC is on its’ way. Next week I can pick up my Xotic wha, and I just ordered the Origin Effects RevivalDrive. Now I have to come down off my pedal binge. The withdrawals are going to hurt.

Well I will be going to Summer NAMM on June 30th, coming up very soon. Sorta last minute decision by me and dad. Dad loves gear and music and while he can't sing a tune or play at all, he loves it almost as much as I do so we are going again. This will be my 3rd time at Summer NAMM.

After that, I hit the pedal shops and find me some new toys!

I also have a problem. Just got a POG 2 and a EHX Voice Box. That should keep me busy for a little while.

My excuse......the two piece band needs more sounds. I may need a top hat next for the magic show.
