He's a British graphic novelist who I think lives in Minnesota. Some of his stuff has been made into movies. He's pretty good.

Back to my topic, I have done lot of research on the subject of impedance matching over the last day or so and the consensus seems to be that running a lower speaker impedance (up to 1/2 of the OT impedance) seems to be perfectly OK and apart from some potential for shortening tube life should have no adverse effect on the amp at all. It seems that mismatching on the high side (16 Ohm cab into an 8 Ohm OT tap) is actually worse for tube amps.

So I guess I am just going to go for it and enjoy my new amp when it arrives! It will be interesting to see what Peavey says if they reply to my e-mail.

How has your Classic 30 Head with 8ohm Avatar cab worked out? I have a similar issue. I might buy a Classic 30 Head and the 1x12 cab I'm interested in is 8ohm. Thanks.
