Anyone get the notice of policy change. Here's the jist.

YOU AND PAYPAL AGREE THAT EACH OF US MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION OR PROCEEDING. UNLESS BOTH YOU AND PAYPAL AGREE OTHERWISE, THE ARBITRATOR MAY NOT CONSOLIDATE OR JOIN MORE THAN ONE PERSON'S OR PARTY'S CLAIMS AND MAY NOT OTHERWISE PRESIDE OVER ANY FORM OF A CONSOLIDATED, REPRESENTATIVE, OR CLASS PROCEEDING. ALSO, THE ARBITRATOR MAY AWARD RELIEF (INCLUDING MONETARY, INJUNCTIVE, AND DECLARATORY RELIEF) ONLY IN FAVOR OF THE INDIVIDUAL PARTY SEEKING RELIEF AND ONLY TO THE EXTENT NECESSARY TO PROVIDE RELIEF NECESSITATED BY THAT PARTY'S INDIVIDUAL CLAIM(S). ANY RELIEF AWARDED CANNOT AFFECT OTHER PAYPAL USERS.

Basically you can't join a class-action suite against them. I generally down like class actions as I believe only lawyers make money off it but I still like to keep the option.

Paypal is giving you the option to opt-out but you have to mail a letter stating your intentions. Figures they can't make it easy by just checking a box in your profile.

Anyone planning on doing this?

I'd like some of the legal eagles that lurk around MLP to voice their opinions.

A lot of companies put lingo like that in to make you think you can't take certain kinds of actions against them.

Often, it is a scare tactic.

There are some rights that just can't be signed away.

my 2 cents......

Class action lawsuits aren't really about making money for the plaintiffs. It's about providing a collective force against the defendant to answer for their actions. Sort of a civilized angry mob if you will.

And, if I'm not mistaken, the lawyers get almost 50% cash up front while all the plaintiffs get their winnings doled out to them in very small amounts over years and years,

That's how John Edwards got so rich, from what I read.

I agree when there's a legitimate case. The issue is we have way too many frivolous suits.

Class action suites benefit no one but the lawyers!

The lawyers get 5 million dollars while we each get a $.37 (yes, 37 cent) coupon to use on our next purchase from said company!
