since i posted this seen a few more, some are trying to get £2.5k for flame top standards, strange times.
I’ve definitely seen dealers asking higher prices, but a quick search of recently completed listings on eBay shows plenty of Standards sold for much lower prices.

Wow, none of those came up in my searches when they were live auctions, I will look more carefully as I would have been interested in couple of those.

I think it is more a case of prices for used guitars increasing in line with inflation over time.

I paid £1,250 for my 1991 LP Custom in 1994. It is worth far more than that now.

I paid £1,820 for my 2009 '08 Standard in 2010. Worth as much if not a little bit more now.

Market forces, that's all.

:dude:
nah,its that vasco mojo that makes it worth more...

All those completed listings I posted screenshots of were from January and February this year, with a couple from December.

I find the best way to spot stuff is to search “Gibson” with the category filter set for “Musical Instruments” not “Electric Guitars”, ranked with “newly listed” items at the top. If you are searching for a Les Paul this means you will have to methodically trawl through a bunch of other Gibson guitars, parts and accessories also, but the plus side is you know it’s less likely that some cool bargain will escape your notice...
