I was 12 years old when I saw this originally on TV. I remember when Paul Stanley jumped in the air with that Flying V and that did it, I wanted to be a rockstar :laugh2:

Love or hate 'em, KISS started a lot of kids picking up guitar. I still remember how blown away I was by them. This was '76, the Bicentennial year, disco and AOR reigned supreme at the time on the radio. We had 3, maybe 4 TV channels so you were not exposed to much other then mainstream stuff. At the time, I listened to Peter Frampton, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Cream, Yardbirds etc... so this "new" shock rock was quite cool

Anyway, how many members here saw that show and what did you think? When I saw Paul do Beth, I thought it was cool, still dig the song for some reason. Maybe because I equated it with a pretty girl in my class named Beth :D

Welcome to my latest flashback that just popped in my mind for some wierd reason :dude:

That was a fantastic time to be 13

I discovered kiss in August 76'

The school genius kept on about how cool they were

I went to his house

He slapped ALIVE onto his deck

My life was enriched.Forever

I remember being in 8th grade and a classmate brought in KISS Alive and I opened the album and looked at the booklet and saw this:

Mind was blown......Then I heard Hotter Than Hell....Ace was the beginning of my illness with the Gibson Les Paul. Henry owes Ace, Jimmy Page, and Gary Richwrath big time IMHO!

I remember watching that. Even though I was a young kid, I remember thinking that they weren't even really playing or singing. If I remember correctly, they also did Beth, and maybe King of the Nightime World?

The following year, they came to town. I got a buddy and his dad to take us and a few other kids to the show. The cost was $8 a seat. I still have the ticket stub. I've seen them numerous times after that, but once Ace was out, so was I.

I remember watching it on TV; I would have been close to 10 years old at the time and was already a KISS fanatic. I watched it over at my grandmother's apartment as my mother would take me and my brother there on Friday nights while my dad was working his part time job. I remember it very well.

Wasn't it the Kitty Kat drummer dude that does Beth on that special ??

:hmm: I honestly don't remember and that would be Peter Criss, I just remember whoever it was was sitting at a huge shiny grand piano. I'll have to search the video and see

EDIT yep, it's Peter Criss singing it

Peter sang beth, with the other members standing around him. I remember Paul Lynde asking gene if they ever take off the make-up, and Gene replied, in a low, mean voice, 'we don't wear make-up'

I remember watching this also, I was 13. Just about the same time I got my first Kiss album (Destroyer). At the time I knew nothing about guitars except that I wanted one. Remember the early Kiss album jackets said "Kiss uses Gibson Guitars and Pearl Drums because they want the best" down on the bottom. So from that point on I wanted a Gibson.

I remember watching that special. It was perfect timing for them. I had seen them live the december before and have been an Ace fan ever since.
