Passive FX Loop?

Quick question.
If my effects loop is tube driven is it still "Passive?"

That's usually a dumbed-down way of saying tube-buffered low impedance, so probably, but it's no guarantee.

There are lots of different ways to do an effects loop, and many of them frankly don't sound very good. A shame, as it makes players distrust loops, even when there are great sounding loops out there that are nothing but an asset to a player.

how would you rank the Soldano SLO effect loop? Is it asset to that circuit?

It's good, though I don't think it's a great loop. Most pros using SLOs are using slave rigs for effects.
