Okay folks, i'm looking to upgrade the p90's in my epi 56 goldtop and change to the 50's wiring.

Im looking for help with the following as the search terms are too short on the board!

What makes of p90 are there on the market?

I would appreciate if you could post with just the name of the pickup and the manufacturer so that a list appears below, i imagine it will be useful for other folks as well as me.

I am particularly looking to emulate a tone similar to leslie west in his early mountain days something similar to the attached links:

Thank you for your help with this, I want to buy right first time so need to make sure I research the sounds I can from all available.

With Bare Knuckle you probably need the Mississippi Queen (humbucker shaped) or Nantucket (Soapbar). The others would be either too mellow (jazzy) or modern (metal).

If you're not in a big hurry, you could go with Shed pickups, also in the UK.

Kinman's noiseless P90s also get great reviews -- according to many it completely nails the tone, as opposed to getting within 5% like other noiseless "P90"s (soapbar shaped humbuckers really). They're true single coils with a dummy coil for noise cancellation. There's a guy going by SMark on TGP who has many clips of them. Here he is on youtube:

They're a bit pricey though and require some extra space at the bottom for the dummy coil, which may mean routing a few millimeters of wood from the pickup cavity.

Last but not least, the Gibson stock P90s are very good and not expensive

A P90 is a P90 if its made to the correct specs. Sure you can spend a fortune if you want but if I was you I would get a set of Axesrus own brand P90's with the alnico 5 magnet. I have a set in my Les Paul special with 50's wiring and they sound as good as anything else I have tried in the last 40 years. They will also sell you everything you need 4x 500k CTS audio taper pots and orange drops for less than £25 and the pickups are £20 a pop. You can spend a lot of money on Mojo & Voodoo marketing bullshit but at the end of the day its all in your fingers:)

Absolutely, without a doubt, either the Zhangbucker Honk 90 or the Honk Plus. But then again in the spirit of caveat emptor, see my sig...
