Owner of Lennon Tooth Plans to Clone Late Beatle | Music News | Rolling Stone

The man who bought John Lennon's molar two years ago – Canadian dentist Michael Zuk – is seeking headlines again, putting out a press release and launching a website indicating his intention to extract DNA from the tooth with the lofty goal of cloning the legendary musician.

At the time of the tooth's sale, RS reported Lennon's molar was too fragile to be DNA tested to confirm it belonged to him. However, Zuk now contends he has hopes to "fully sequence" Lennon's DNA. "With researchers working on ways to clone mammoths, the same technology certainly could make human cloning a reality," he said in a (certainly scientifically dubious) statement. "To potentially say I had a small part in bringing back one of rock’s greatest stars would be mind-blowing."

In the mid-1960s, John Lennon gave one of his extracted molars to his housekeeper for disposal — but that was just the beginning of the tooth's extremely odd journey. He then suggested she pass the tooth to her daughter, who was a big Beatles fan, and the artifact stayed in the family until November 2011, when it sold at auction for more than $30,000.

First, I hope he does and it turns out to be a black baby. Of course, he'll probably flush it.

Now, say it IS Lennon's tooth and he DOES get a kid out of it. He'll need the kid's "father" to run away. Then, he'll have to kill the kid's "mother" by having a drunk driver run her over. Next, he needs a surrogate "aunt" to raise the kid. With his luck the kid'll probably be well behaved and fall right into line with society.

Lennon had a lot of things happen in his life to shape how he turned out. There's no guarantee, I think, that Lennon 2 will have any musical talent at all. Besides, he's gonna need a McCartney tooth.

Thread clone? This could start something like a bunch of leaving threads or something.

You really can't fault the guy for not seeing the first thread as it fell off the radar in like 5 minutes. Even interest in oddball topics wasn't enough to save the thread as the idea is just so stupid it was pretty easy to pass the thread up for something that might actually pay off for the reader. The Ballad Of John or Yokos toof indeed. BTW I'll take just about anything over more leaving MLP threads, even good posters got tangled up in that blue.

Why I concur, some complain but I just love a teaser thread title. I read the headline and I think "What's He Building In There?"

It certainly is, hanging out with dear old Mom in Boone NC, sitting around, eating, replacing batteries in clocks, eating, sitting around, replacing glass for screens on storm doors, eating, sitting around, watching tv, buying new smoke detectors, sitting around, eating, naps and sich. Guess my sister got her computer going again because I was surprised to have internet access so it was a no brainer to hang out inbetween, eating and sitting around. Should have brought a guitar, not sure why I didn't but that's life.
