Yesterday I bought an Ovation Celebrity and it's a great guitar. It plays and feels amazing, almost like an electric guitar. However, the intonation, particularly the high E string is not the greatest. Being an acoustic, the intonation is not as easily adjusted as an electric. Around these parts, there aren't really any guitar techs and the Long and McQuade doesn't do the greatest of jobs. How might I go about doing this myself? It's really only one string that is an issue. Also, I bought Silk and Steel strings and put those on it, and I think they may be a lighter gauge, could this affect the intonation? :hmm::thumb:

Ship it to 135 Sunflower Gate, Toronto, ON, m5h1f3. I'll assess the guitar and let you know if it needs so be scrapped or not... Chances are it will :D.

(P.S., for all you clowns who think that's my real address, it's not :D.)

Is your intonation sharp or flat?

Also, I use silk & steels often. They don't make any difference to my ear, intonation-wise.

but if they're a different guage they might affect the neck bow a bit.

Intonation is usually set by the staggered bridge on the acoustic....the non-adjustable one.

Sight the neck to see how it looks.

The neck looks to have a slight bit of bow. Im not sure if its flat or sharp, I'll check later but its bad enough that an open D is in tune, but an A will not be. Or vice versa.

Maybe a different gauge of strings (with a different tension) will work (or maybe not), try it and see.

TIP : trade your plastic bridge for wood (ebony) and notice the difference.

Use your plastic as a template.
