Out of the music scene for a while.

Lately, I haven't been active on this forum at all, due to me spending all my time away from home whilst living with my mother. I played a lot of local shows in Omaha, and our band got a pretty good reputation with the local music scene.

But, the reason why I spent so much time away from my "humble abode" was due to the fact that my mother and I do not get along. At all. I can almost guarantee that if I met her in life, and were she not my mother, we'd undoubtedly hate eachother, which according to her is already the case.

So, my father, with whom I think the world of, and we're very close, was fed up with me having to live with a so called "parent" who could care less about me, and was completely unsupportive. So just last week, he called and came to get me.

I have moved from a town with a population of almost 8,000, right next to a city of over 150,000, where music is abundant, and my main interest...
To a city of just around 2,500, where ranches are commonplace, popular music doesn't reach here until months after it's debut, and the music scene is non-existent. I am half way through my sophomore year, I turn 17 in a couple months, and I won't be able to move back on my own and start music again until sometime around my 19th birthday in June of 2013, when I graduate. Traveling to my shows is not convenient given the 350 mile commute.

So, it is within this forum that I hope to confide, and keep in touch with people who are musically active, knowledgable, and with whom I can talk guitars.

Ain't life just grand...
Cheers.

Is there a reason you can't just play by yourself...:hmm:

When I'm not in a band,,I learn new stuff and hone my technique etc....

Just a suggestion of course...

Glad to have you back, man. Sorry that circumstances have put you in this position, but I think when you are older you may find the music scene much more rewarding, anyway.

I couldn't agree more.

You can always play solo (real solo, not playing a solo in a band), and learn the songs, styles and techniques that support solo playing. You just don't need a band behind you if you branch out. Then when you hit a bigger town again, you are more knowledgeable, more well rounded, and more adaptable.

No no, you guys are 100% right, in fact the first couple minutes I played by myself, I figured I would make myself as good as possible with the time given to me, and save up some money for a bigger better rig. That way, when I do come back onto the music scene, I'll be in good shape.
