I posted about the new bands first gig and how well it went. Tonight was gig #2 and it was just as good or better. Our first gig was a bar full of friends and family. Tonight was an hour north and only a hand full of our friends came. From sound check to last song (3 times we ended only to be chanted back for one more) the place was full and clapping and dancing. I am still kind of shocked at the response....... on another note I am suddenly breaking strings...2 tonight. An3rd and a 5th....Always at the saddle. Started before switching to elixers and is still going. I am gonna polish the saddle up some tomorrow. Plus I think I am playing really hard trying to hear my guitar in the monitor mix. I don't want to be the only guy on stage with in ears but I am gonna have to do something.

All I use is the Elixer brand on my Taylor. Have the same set on it for the past 5 months and they still sound bright. Are you using some kibd of lubricant like Nut Sauce on the Bridge ?

Doesn't matter how hard someone plays if the 3rd and 5th break there's a saddle that would be in the garbage ASAP.

Is it really that sharp?

That would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater! If the saddle is the issue, just soften out the sharp edge or burr with 320 grit paper.

In the same saddle topic

how it’s cut has deep effect on the sound as well
That cowboy “twang” is a sharp cut saddle ....

taylor’s are cowboy cut for that “bright” sales floor tone

smooth it over for that crazy horse/sweet baby tone
Nice sharp ramp for the old time hi lonesome / bluegrass

the nut and saddle have so much impact on the sound
(Not sayin’ tone). Sound of the system ...

And hell yeah you guys rocked it!

If I were ever to start gigging again, I would never play without 'em now.
Congrat's on the gigs.
Nice to get a good response and, as I've followed your recent posts, I'd expect that you've probably worked hard for it.

I took an Emery board and smoothed the saddle. Hopefully it helps.
