I need some photos of the internal wiring especially from the footswitch to the pcb. Can anyone help me please?

Ok, just had a look at the site and it wasn't much help. I need to know what colour wire goes where in the pedal. Its an original black box and the photos I have seen have a seperate switch and led whereas mine has both mounted on to a pcb.

Are you having a problem with the pedal and need to fix it?

Yeah, I took the insides out to install in a custom board that I'm building. I extended the wiring to the footswitch and to start with it was working fine. Tried it a day or 2 later and it has suddenly stopped working. It bypasses ok but when the pedal is on, there is no sound. The led lights but that is all. What do you think has happened?

Hmm... Hard to say without seeing it, really. Yours doesn't match the one in the photos? Do you have the custom board in it now or the Guv'nor board? Could be a number of things. If you had some photos of your guts it may help. You can PM me also if you want. I can try to help you out.

This is a classic issue when building DIY stomp boxes. Check out the trouble shooting tips on the BYOC forum.

Brilliant Glynne, thanks a million mate.
I however have noticed that when I link the bottom of the c5 cap to the top of the c4 one, it works but I have no control over the gain vr. Do you think the C5 cap has had it??

If your pedal matches the schematic found HERE when you connect those capacitors you're bypassing the gain stage. That's why there's no control. Which leads me to believe you may have a bad connection on that first stage of the IC.

No problem. Hope they help you out. You know a lot more about this stuff than I do bro. So I cant really advise on that problem. But a bad connection sounds like the most likely culprit.

IC1a you mean? You are probably right as it intermitidally worked a couple of days ago when I picked the board up. What do you suggest I do?

Yep, IC1a. :thumb: That's the first "stage" of the dual opamp. I would start by checking the connections to the gain pot and board. If it was me, I'd make an audio probe:

Simple Circuit Debugging

Kind of tedious, but I had to do it once. It was helpful and handy to know later on. You basically build what it shows and touch each part of the circuit from start to finish with the capacitor lead to find where there is no sound; that's where the problem is. A multimeter is also handy if you have one.

Also, check your soldering. The switch looks kinda suspect and the purple wire that attaches to the board looks like the pad is gone. Did you remove that wire for anything or is that how it came?

Right, just built a probe and tested it. I dont get any signal at all apart from the bottom of the c5 cap (aswell as the obvious input points). I've resoldered everything that I thought needed it (including the IC) and have checked it out thoroughly but still I have nothing. Any ideas?
Incidently, why are my boards cream and all the pics I have seen are blue?
