Ive managed to stay off the forum long enough while waiting but figured i would share. From the moment i first started playing guitar I’ve always dreamt of an alpine white les paul custom. I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to splurge so I ordered my dream set up through the M2M program in Nov ‘21 at Gibson Garage in Nashville. I mocked up what I spec’d (see pics) and will look like an alpine white with super 400 inlays from the front, but sides and back are dark natural walnut color. V1 neck, lightweight mahogony back with no weight relief routing, and custombuckers. Let me know what you think!

Last I talked to them they were still waiting for the fretboard as it sounds like they outsource and the super 400 split block inlays in a custom was pretty backed up. Hoping to see if finish up in the next few months!

In addition I ordered up a Wizard 100w mtl mc2 hybrid amp at the same time. If you know you know :)

Sweet! I love the Super 400 inlays on an LP Custom. I wish I had them on mine!

Now I kind of wish I had thought of that before I ordered mine.

Wow, very sweet. I am looking forward to your NGD post, should be sweet.

I almost ordered a M2M at the Gibson Garage when I last visited Nashville. But... the wait time was just too long, and I started having second thoughts about not bonding with it or it just not being what I was expecting. It took me 11 Gibson Les Paul's to finally get the one I had been looking for over a 12-year period, I just decided to not do it which was August 12th, 2021.

It's just money, I probably should have gotten one and now I would have it or soon be getting it.

Ya i hear ya. They told me at the time it would be about 6 months to a year. Im almost at 16 months. Good things come to those who wait right?

What would you have ordered?

I definitely have the same fear of not bonding with it. I think the fact that cosmetically it’s a one off made just for me will help, despite how it plays. I got some reassuring feels from the crew at the garage about choosing to use a light weight mahogany for the back. It was a bit of an up charge but they mentioned everything they have had built with a light weight selected back has sounded phenomenal. It will be interesting to see what the final weight turns out to be.

When I was there in August 2021, they said a year to a year and a half, no guarantees. I had some idea's floating around in my head at the time wanting something in the middle of a 59 and 60's Les Paul, since I like the Standard 60's neck best. I wanted something in a not overdone flame top with an in-between Orange/Lemon Burst faded look, not aged, but not shiny with a thin coat of nitro. They gave me a ballpark of around 8k, could go higher or lower based on everything once we got into more specifics on everything.

I came close to purchasing this from the Mod Shop about 6 months ago, but it had crap pickups for a 59 Re-Issue, so I would have to spend money right away for a pickup swap and it was already $6129 with 20% off.

59 Re-Issue Mod Shop below Basilisk Burst, for $6129. BB1 in the neck and 57 Classic in the Bridge, which this should have come with Custombuckers voiced more for 59 era.

I have not seen an Alpine White with a neck and back in walnut, and I think it look really wonderful. If anything, it highlights the white even more, in a really nice way. I wonder if the top will age as that color, under old nitro, used to back in the day. I have an '87 Reissue '61 Les Paul/SG Custom in what was once white, and it is now "ivory" (by which I really mean cream puff yellow!) Though yours will still look incredible if/when the color does mellow. Very nice.

Thanks! Yes it should yellow the same creamy goodness that will go great with the dark brown.

That is going to be fantastic! The M2Ms certainly are the dream, since you can get exactly what you want.

I keep thinking of some day getting them to build me an accurate Norlin-era, late '70s-style Custom, since it seems the neverending obsession with all things '50s means they will continue to ignore a huge and equally important part of their own history.
