The first time I played an OR15 was with an orange 2x12 closed back, that small thing was so huge and I loved it! The only reason I didn't get it was I wanted a second channel: so came the Rockerverb 50 -MKIII.

Orange has such a sweet tone, and I prefer it over marshal now, I've just spent too much time with orange amps. Now if they came or with the OR30, two OR15 channels l, I would buy it right away!

I'm with you on preferring Orange over Marshall now. My DSL sits idle now. Wish I had tried an Orange before. Contemplating selling some other amps to get a Rockerverb 50 Mk III now.

Best decision I ever made!

I've gigged the amp several times with a 2x12 (greenbacks). There isn't much headroom there, especially with humbuckers. A mic'd venue with a good PA system will help a lot though. If you use cleans in your band this is probably not a good amp for you..

Ditto the Tiny Terror. But really, who wants an Orange for it's clean tones? I haven't read many comments from owners who rave about it. In my case, it can't even remotely compare to my VOX, both in terms of clean tone quality and volume at max headroom. I've said it before, if I could find an amp with Orange grit and VOX cleans, it might just be my dream amp. I already have this now with the Radial Headbone setup, but dang, it would be nice to have in one head.

This little amp is basically designed to get you into gain/power tube breakup at manageable volume -- that's the point, and that's what it is for -- so anyone wanting clean headroom should look elsewhere. It's not supposed to be a Swiss Army Knife amp, and it's certainly not meant to give you loads of volume if you get your OD, etc., from pedals. Orange developed this whole line of amps to have the virtue (for many players) of getting you into gain and OD amp (not pedal) tones at a moderate volume level. The initial review that started this thread is great, and the writer's advice to use a 2x12 cab is also excellent, as it will distribute a big sound even with the amp's deliberately modest wattage.

I went into a guitar shop today as I'm looking for a head that will give me a better clean tone than I get from my old Line 6 Flextone III or Blackstar HT5-R. Since the shop didn't have the Vox head I was hoping to try he set me up with two Orange heads; a Tiny Terror and the OR15. I liked the dirty sound on both (through a small Blackstar cabinet as it happened), but clean...forget about it.

Might still end up picking one up for dirty sounds though depending what I make of the Vox head when I finally get to try it.

The 2.0 Night Train looks like a very sweet amp. I love mine and the new one has reverb, two channels, an FX loop. :thumb:

They are great amps. I enjoyed mine...before I sold it. I was still in the "trying out" new amps mode then. I sold the rig and bought a new Princeton Reverb. But it too is long gone!

Just an addition. I swapped a p-94 into my esquire yesterday. From what I can tell this amp loves P-90s. Can't wait to practice at volume today.

It's digging on my SD L'il 59/SD Mini Humbucker combination in my Tele as well :)

I have a lil 59 in one of my teles too. I don't think I've found an amp yet that didn't like that pickup.

A Tele I bought many years ago, and sadly sold, had a L'il 59 in it. I bought it used. After maybe three minutes of playing it I grinned and knew that was what a guitar was supposed to sound like. I always knew I'd get another Tele, and I knew I'd put another '59 into it. In all honesty the stock pickup that came with my AVRI '52 Hot Rod was quite good, but I had to get that L'il 59 sound again!
