It's weird because I can't see them in the USA stores, only in the European ones.:hmm:

I've got to more expensive LPs including a R7 and this plays and sounds as good as them.

As I said earlier I tested some Traditionals, Standards and some Historics.I didn't buy the Classic because is cheaper(if you don't soud good in a 2K guitar it's not the guitar), I bought it because it has the features that I want on a LP, I don't like flamed tops and most historics have huge necks which is a deal breaker for me.

I was very critical toward 2015 Gibson guitars but this year they are doing a great job!!

Edit: USA store selling them:

Gibson Exclusive Limited Edition Les Paul Classic with Case
It's an Exclusive run which means it's exclusive to whoever offered to pay for the run. No other stores are able to buy from that run if they're in the same sellers market. This is why you don't see Tran Pro's selling at Sam Ash, Zzound or AMS. They have all haf their own Exclusive Run's in the past and present though.

Foreign markets are the exception though. They aren't in a competing market so they are able to buy up some of the overruns occasionally.

Very informative thanks.

I should buy the gold top as well then.

I would love a plain top. I'd swap my flame for plain any day

Blasphemy! That color goes together with flame like milk and chocolate. Tasty.:dude:

Update:

I've just bought it.:thumb:

I know how you will feel about your new Classic once you get familiar with it. The pickups are a wise choice for Gibson to put on these new ones. There are lots of tones to be had there. The word that comes to my mind is versatility.

I have a 2000 Honeyburst model that is still my #1 for tone and playability and, yes, versatility. The thin neck is not cherished by everyone, but as I did; you will grow accustomed to it as it does help increase your spread and reach. The price seems very reasonable. Fifteen years ago I paid $1,400 U.S. after negotiating with the shop manager. At the time, the retail sticker price when it hung on the wall was $3,100 U.S !! The shop wanted $1,800 U.S.

Enjoy that beauty!

I just re-read the original post and it's got Classic 57 Zebras on it???

For my money the Classic 57 is the best pickup Gibson produce. I have 3 on an SG Custom and it just the right balance of tonal qualities with a really nice crunch when overdriven.

For years the Classic had 496R and 500T ceramics. Lots of people change these out but I'm rather fond of them. Certainly quite different to the 57s but I do get why they are not to everyone's taste.

Hi Guys!
I'm new to the fórum and just bought my first LP, and it's a gorgeous 2016 Classic Gold Top!
I’m not very fond of the zebras, but I’m considering some covers.

Gibson did a limited run of 2016 Classic Goldtops for Independent dealers and we have 3 left over at Chuck's! They are honestly the best Classic that Gibson has done in the past couple of years and if I didn't already own a year 2000 Cherry Sunburst I would get one myself; love the slim taper neck and I've been jonesing for goldtop.

They even include a picture of the guy setting up the guitar in with the case candy...

Email me at [email protected] if you want one! Sticker is 2k but email me for pricing!

I don't know. Gibson screws with everything yearly. So often that you can't possibly keep track. The Traditionals, the Classics, the Standards - they all evolve every year. My 2010 Traditional is ebony, with a solid back and an unrelieved body. Later they went to different pickups, split coil controls, 2-piece backs, on and on. The 1960 Classics? They were discontinued, only to re-emerge in a different format. WTF? 50 years from now players will never know what the hell it is they might be holding in their hands. Who the hell knows what Gibson's cheaping out on or scheming next. It's something new every month with them and Marshall - it's as if the two most legendary companies in the world can't make up their frigging minds on their latest product lines, so they're throwing turds at the wall to see what sticks. Gibson guitars are arguably the best designs in the world, executed by the world's worst company in the world. And lately, Fender's not too far behind with their confusing array of products as well.

Because I like it, and it was 100€ cheaper than othe bursts..
Actually it looks so nice with Ice Tea

While that pic shows a nice looking cherry sunburst plain top (better known as a "clownburst"), it's a far cry from Iced Tea, which has very little, if any, red.

Sorry for the Tele on a Les Paul forum, but I'm very happy with this 2016 Classic. I also bought from Thomann, I live in Czech Republic and went there to try a few personally.
One month ago I bought a 2016 Traditional and wasn't very happy with a few things, so I returned and bought a Classic.
The neck on this Classic is very very conformable and the uncovered pickups have a nice crisp attack, love it.

Great looking guitar, congrats!
Yea, the 60's slim taper neck and 57 classic pickups was the main reason that I wanted this exact guitar! And its looks great! And the price, almost same as some Studio models.:)
