When they add Judo to the winter games I'll care about them.
Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir commenting on skating is like watching "Hunger Games"
Lighten Up FrancisHeard about one from New York today.... one from California last week.
What's this shit with American athletes competing on the Chinese team?
The Olympics have always been about the country.
In some ancient times, they were a replacement for war... and that remained true through the Cold War.
It allowed the participating countries to show off the strength of their men without actually killing the other guys (except the occasional wrestling match.)
I don't care if your family heritage is Chinese, Japanese, British, or Martian... Competing on the team of another country is grounds for the revocation of your US citizenship and deportation, no different than if you enlisted in their army.
When the IOC said they would let the figure skater gal compete, but if she wins there will be no medal ceremony, they lost whatever shred of credibility they may still have had. I mean, that's pretty much admitting you know she's cheating, but just letting her compete anyway. And more drama from the kid's doping situation.
Claims she accidentally ingested one of grandpa's pills.
But she takes two non-banned drugs that have similar effects... claims it's to even our her heart rate, but she's not been diagnosed with a condition.
And the levels of "grandpa's" drug in her system are indicative of the tail end of a regular dose.
Snowboarder allowed to compete in the downhill, but using the same board was blocked from "big air" because of the sponsor's name on the bottom of the board. She tried to cover it with Sharpie and was unable to get up to speed for her jumps and withdrew from the competition, going home with a Silver in downhill.
That whole thing was just sad. The one girl wins gold and no one, not her fellow Russians or her coaches even gives her a hug or a congrats. She's just sitting there with a joyless look on her face after winning gold. The silver medal skater, also Russian, is crying and saying she hates the sport and will never compete again. The only one that seemed happy about any of it was the Japanese girl who won bronze.

I heard the Canadian team is sweeping the competition, but the Norwegians are trying to rake it in.Curling, this shit ever end?
