So, i got to pick up my LP from the tech last night, but had to drop my amp off at a local music store to get repaired. I was told week to 10 days for turn around time. Super excited to have the guitar back, total bummer no amp to play it thro. Was going to take pictures, then realized the new pick guard i ordered hadn't come in yet either.

So, about an hour ago, the mailman finally delivers the new pick guard. Yay, can go home install it and get pictures done. About 10 minutes ago, the music store called. All the amps in front of mine are waiting on part orders so he was able to look at mine this morning, It was just a broken contact from the jack to the pcb. $85.00 for the repair, which i think is a tad high but seriously, wtf do i know about diagnosing and repairing amps. Regardless, i can pick the amp up on the way home tonight!!

I may have rent a hotel room or something for the evening. I feel a very loud evening finally coming my way !! :dude:

It has a lot to do with how an amp is put together. Replacing an input jack on a Fender 5E3 takes about ten minutes. Replacing an input jack on a Fender Deville takes over an hour because of all the sh*t that has to be disassembled just to get to it.

There is a bench charge for electronics. This covers the intial investigation and if the owner decides against repairing, covers some of the time spent on it.
If you think about it, in order to replace a jack that's soldered to a PCB the Circuit card will need to be removed most likely for access. This involves time more than anything else. I fthey replaced the jack, thye can run $10-20 (aftre mark up) for a decent one.

Oh, im not disagreeing with anything, as i said wtf do i know about amp repairs. But i knew it had to be something with the jack, Input 2 works just fine, and there was no noise coming from jack 1 at all. It simply worked one day and the next it didnt. Had i kept my soldering iron from my RC car days i woulda pulled the amp out of the cab and at least observed it myself some. I choose to take it in and pay instead. I just thought that $85 for a tiny solder job was a tad high after our discussion. Its not like he had to spend much time diagnosing anything. But, i got the ampworking and back in less then 24 hours, so that alone was worth a few pennies in my book !
