This might be a huge deal if the gift cards can be used for anything at guitar center.

Meaning: Get the gift cards, then negotiate at the store (say) a 15% discount. Once you factor in the gift cards, the total discount will be roughly 32%. Before tax.

For example suppose the store has a guitar marked at $1,175 and you talk them down to $1,000. You then pay with $1,000 of gift cards that only cost you $800. Your total discount is ($1,175-$800)/$1,1175 = 32 percent.

It doesn't cost any more to make a "Custom shop" SG than a "regular" SG, so I'll be "poor" wherever I want!

I didn't find one thing I wanted in any of the Black Friday sales. It's mostly junk they're trying to get rid of, not a sale on the stuff everyone wants. Everything that I actually wanted was ineligible as soon as it hit the cart.

However, in the process of checking them out I did find a nice deal (Reverb) on a pedal I'd been considering so it wasn't a total waste of time

That's pretty cool. I have a clip on for quick tuning but the one I like the most for accuracy is the Peterson strobe tuner app for iPad. It's like getting a professional strobe tuner (but with a better display) for ten bucks
