Nut issue?

Having an issue with new guitar. Only noticed this lately as I've been practicing hammer/pull offs, particularly on the high e string.

It doesn't take much effort at all to pull the string "off" the fret, causing a weird scraping noise. Tried the same on my other LP and it takes much more pull to even come close to replicating.

Don't have anything on hand to accurately measure for any differences. Could this also be attributed to brand of strings? Or perhaps a flawed nut slot. Bridge height...?

Guitar 1 has Ernie Ball

Sounds like you need another nut with narrower string spacing.

Measure the space between the fretboard edge and the high e string - at both the nut and the 20th fret, and compare with the space between the fretboard edge and the low e string. It could be either the nut or the bridge that is off.

Could also be the frets are crowned more at the edge.

Yeah brother sounds like you need a new nut.

I'm convinced it's a goof. Called AMS, support was very friendly, emailed me a return label. Said as soon as the UPS bar code hits the system, they will have a new one headed my way.

Back the the LP Special II for a while.
