A recent thread got me considering the harbor freight arbor press, but I decided I could just use an existing tool in my shop.

If a 1-ton lever press is good, then a 50-ton hydraulic press is even better!

I still need to a fix a radiused caul of course :)

LOL. But why stop at 50 tons? At 100 tons you should be able to pinch it off completely.

I've tried fret presses. I'll stick with my brass hammer, thank you. It works better for me.

LOL, Mr Serious, :)

the 50-ton press is what I have in my shop so that’s what I used

I actually could pinch it off if I let it go but I thought it was more funny this way,

or so I thought :)

It is funny. But I don't want to cover the screen with emojis. :)

The Hydraulic Press channel on youtube is among my favorites to watch. What's he gonna crush next?

Of course if Id fully committed to the joke and gone all-in, Id have welded my Stewmac 12" radius fret caul onto the top die, and made it guillotine the headstock clean off the neck :)

Maybe next time :)

FTR, it really is my hydraulic press. I use it to forge damascus steel

the neck I crushed is from a used Ibanez bass I bought for about 50 bucks almost 20 years ago, that has a broken truss rod. Its been in a box of junk in the corner of my shop for years and I decided it could play one last gig in the service of fun :)

Heres the real use of the press...
