2 new pedals today....

CB-SynBoxes.jpg

(Forgive me is you already know all of what I say below.)

The Chase Bliss Preamp Mk II (left) does all kinds of gain with lots of options.
Here's an excellent video of efforts to use it to recreate some of the best gain pedals of the past, Klon, TS, Fuzz Face, etc.

The Synesthesia is a 2 channel effects pedal with lots of effects, and lots of customization for each effect. Being two channels, it can run two different effects, or the same one twice, simultaneously. Like a phaser into chorus or vice versa. In the fx loop I'll run, 0, 1 or 2 modulations. So this should cover anything I want.

Excellent video from Andy showing its capabilities.

I don't always use pedals. But when I do, it's because I am recreating the tone of artists whose songs I am playing. And many artists that I emulate, use an effect or two. So I have a huge board allowing me to play many, many different tones. My board is shared between and Marshall and a Mesa. The both use the gain pedals, and each have their own section for their individual effects loops. I have a lot of pedals, on a switcher, so that I can go from any tone to any other tone by activating a certain pedal or combination of pedals, without turning knobs. The Marshall and Mesa are never heard at the same time. They share a cabinet and I switch between them.

So my experiment is, can I reduce my huge pedalboard down to just a few pedals? These two pedals, plus a tuner and a wah. Guitar->tuner->wah->Chase Bliss->amp, then the Synesthesia in the fx loop, possibly with a noise gate. Since both of these have presets, it can change presets the way I use the switcher, possibly.

I love my classic pedals, by I am a tinkerer. So why not try this. Kill some time while staying at home more than usual.

Here's my current board. Excuse its messiness. I haven't gotten around to making patch cables for each run and getting out my label maker.

Some of you may find this a worthwhile time killer and experiment. Others may find it nauseating. But to each their own.

The Chase Bliss is a super cool pedal, based on That Pedal Show video, but I tend to get overwhelmed with that many controls haha
