Spring thing.jpg

Anyone know what this spring does? I know what the other four do, but I've never seen this before. Not a Strat, not sure what guitar this is.

Kind of reminds me of the old style drum brakes that would self adjust when you pumped the brakes while backing up.

What does that brass rod connect to...?

Never heard of it. Not a stock item I would think

Ibanez had variations of that stock on the upper end guitars in the 90's.

Apparently, this was a parts caster someone had built. Would like to get it on my bench and see what going on with it. Guy says it has no truss adjustment vizible.

Fender did install Hipshot Tremsetters in some '90s~'00s Strats. And for a while Fender sold Fender/Hipshot co-branded Tremsetters as accessories.

The one in the OP is probably aftermarket because it looks like the stock spring claw had the middle cut out.

Really, also this guitar apprears to have no truss adjustment

Vintage style adjuster at the heel of the neck perhaps? When mixing bodies and necks on a partscaster sometimes the adjuster is completely covered until you remove the neck (particularly with thicker pickguards).
