The second concert that Fleetwood Mac played in their Buckingham-Nicks incarnation was Syracuse, New York, at the old Landmark Theater-- one of those old, rococo movie palaces from the 1920's. What a setup!...I think that most of we who were at this concert were unaware that Bob Welch was no longer with group. I remember looking at Lindsay Buckingham and wondering "who's this guy?" and then being puzzled by the sudden appearance of the then-27 year-old Stevie Nicks... my god, she was gorgeous that night... I was a drooling fool of a seventeen year-old mook after a mere twenty seconds of exposure to her...
But then they lit into
Monday Morning, and by the time that song was over, we didn't actually seem to
care who that new guy was... he was killer!...that was still one of the best concerts I ever saw... the sound was perfect, the group was unbelievably tight, and the ambiance was simply incredible.
