Noise Gate in FX Loop

So I was playing around last night with some pedal configurations and this config really opened up all my pedals. I moved my noise gate to run through the FX loop on the amp and ran the other pedals in normal order. Guitar-Comp-Dist-Delay-out to amp. This unleashed the distortion pedal to new heights. I was getting much more distortion than what I was getting before. Turning the noise gate to about 9:00 and the the fx loop about 3:00 was the sweet spot. Nice and quite and hell of a lot more distortion running on the clean channel.

When you were running your gate in the pedal chain before the amp, did your tone sound any better with the gate turned off? If not then my guess is your gate was sucking the tone.

Yea it did sound better with gate off but the hiss was almost umbearable. Running it through the loop the hiss is almost entirely gone.

That is a solution that works for some guitarists....

I can now officially say that the M78 Badass distortion sounds badass. Can't wait to hear it with the M77 OD in front of it now.
