All for the better. I have successfully turned my CV tele into a killer top shelf guitar. All in for a total of $515. Bootstrap palo duros, switchcraft jack and cup, compensated brass saddles, and a killer allparts neck. It weighs in at 7lb 12oz.

I thought the thin squier neck sounded pretty good, but then I found a neck over at tdpri. It’s super snappy, and has “the” tele sound now. Not to mention feels way better with the chunky soft V that tapers to a C around the 5th fret. I’m all done looking at telecasters now.

Some say tone follows the neck! I have built at least 30 strats and teles over the years and have done a lot of neck swapping. Every time I change necks the difference is very noticeable.
Glad the change is better for you!

A dealer specializing in vintage Strats, also, once told me the "Tone follows the neck".
The neck is indeed the soul of the guitar.
It's your interface. It's what speaks to you.
If it doesn't feel right, you'll never bond with it.

I love the all parts necks I’ve got on my fender style guitars. I’ve only gone for the fat profile but I’d like to try one of their v shape offerings too.

Mine is an allparts tmo that the po shaped. The soft v is very soft. He also leveled the frets and installed a bone nut. All professional work. Satin poly finished and feels slick. Not at all sticky. I made a couple beginner’s mistakes with the waterside decal, but I’m happy with it.

I have a CIJ Strat from 2001? Tried a different neck from Mighty Mite on it to see if there would be any improvement, and it turned the guitar into a dog. Its got the original neck back on it.

Nice! Not that I believe in t0AnwUdZ myself, but did the electric sound change as well?

Yes, more snappy and what I think of as “the” tele sound, both unplugged and through whatever amp I’m playing. Definitely the most tele of the 4 teles currently at my house.

Changing a neck out can be night and day. I installed EMG active pickups on my 1976 Fender Precision Bass fretless rosewood neck to get a little bit more treble for my solos. With taped La Bella strings on, it is the bomb. Then while hanging out with a pal that was teaching me how to level, crown, and dress the frets on my Jazz Bass, he showed me an '80s P bass maple fretted neck that he had laying around in his shop for about $200. That was hard to pass up. When I paired it with some old Rotosounds roundwounds I had lying about, it turned from civilized Jazz gazelle into a Frankenstein Funk Monster! As Dinah Washinton sang. "What a difference a day makes...". Wow.
