Can I apply nitro over tung oil? Also, does anyone have any idea about the curing time for tung oil?

I've not had any luck with that.. oil and water if you catch me meaning.

better to sand it back to raw wood and use a vinyl sanding sealer.

What dyes would you recommend to kind of mimic a tung oil finish? Maybe a light brown? Ive never used aniline dyes so I'm clueless.

If you use the polymerized Tung oil (i.e. waterlox) you can spray Polyurethane over the top to give it the real depth of a top coat. No nitro though in my experience. Cure time on most tung oils is 28 days above 7 - 10 degrees celsius.

I`ve done poly over tung oil before with no issues, you might try it on a scrap piece with the nitro first. What I did was rubbed in by hand about 3 coats of tung oil then wiped it dry and let sit overnight. Then take a paper towel and wipe it down very very good till its no longer oily just slick and dry then shoot the nitro on it. I did it on turkey calls with various woods and no issues, even cocobolo which is a naturally oily wood to start with.

If you want to highlight the wood and seal it at the same time, before moving on to a Nitro clear, why not apply a hand rubbed shellac? Shellac can add a beautiful touch to wood and whats even better is that damn near everything will still well to it.

I just did nitro over Tru-Oil. The Tru-Oil had cured for about 10 months. I did rough it up a bit with some 220 first though.

A mix of orange, tobacco brown and amber translucent will reproduce the hue of most toung oil. Keep in mind that not every batch of tung oil comes out the same exact hue (even from the same company)

It will likely on take about 2 eye drops for TB, 2 eydrops of orange and 2 of amber per 4-6 oz to achieve what you are looking for. So experiment but be sparing on the use of tint untill you find a formula that suits you.
