Nope, no explanation.

Heck, I didn't even know the guitar was coming home.

But yeah, I'll take extra parts. :thumb:

.

I have experienced rattling bridges with moving, loose saddles on many 13/14 Lesters. Maybe some saddles popped off the old bridge and they decided to give you what a paying customer deserves, correct quality?

I'd ask them anyways

Great the whole thing turned out to the good for you, enjoy your made up baby

Could be, although I never heard any rattling before.

I will say that the string slots on the new set-up are much better, which may be why they replaced it.

Like I have often seen, the original saddles had slight differences in depth, so that the strings were not perfectly aligned.

I don't mean "flat" across. Of course it must follow the FB radius.

I mean that there would be the odd string that is too high or too low.

This saddle work is spot on.

When the R8 comes back, if all is well, I plan to send them a letter of thanks.

This is also why I wanted to document this experience here.

If they do it right, members will know.

So far, so good.

Ok, update time again.

I got my R8 back from Gibson last week.

They had it for about a month.

So far, I am happy with the repair results on both guitars.

Here is the R8 finish repair. They were even able to match the analine dye fade into the nitro over the binding.

And, for some reason they either installed a new pick guard, or added a new Custom Shop sticker to my original one.

We talk a lot of crap about Gibson here, but at least they made things right for me.

I would like to thank all of you who have kept up with this thread.

I appreciated the well wishes, and other comments.

I am very happy it turned out well for me, and I would encourage others who have problems with a new Gibson guitar to reach out to them for help.

I would also like to thank my local Gibson dealer, Sims Music in Columbia,SC.

This was where I bought the R7, the R8 was purchased from WildWood guitars.

Within minutes of me walking in the door of Sims Music to explain my problem, they had already assured me that the problem would be fixed, either by Gibson, or a reputable luthier they regularly use. ( not their in house tech )

Their immediate and firm reaction with Gibson resulted in an immediate contact for me from Gibson, and eliminated the need for me to contact WildWood for help on the R8.

This speaks volumes for dealing with local Mom & Pop music shops.

If you like to look for smaller smaller music shops, as opposed to GC, Musician's Friend, etc., check out Sims Music.

Sims MusicHome - Sims Music

It is owned by Jerry Sims, an accomplished Jazz Guitarist.

Here he is playing with Bucky Pizzarelli:

Thanks to all.
