just got off the phone with GC they say theres a promise date of september 6th on that guitar...

no, not at all...they were a direct fit and you could hardly tell a weight difference when holding the individual tuners, but my particular Special is only 7.25 lbs and the difference in weight was just enough to cause it. It didn't just "bang...to the floor"...it would just slide out of reach a bit and I didn't like that. So I put the stock tuners back on and put a new set of strings on, doing the old "manual lock" method, like so:

Good. I always lock the strings that way. and go one turn at the most, just enough to lock it tight.
