Picked up on ebay for a song. Nice glossy finish, can see some of the wood grain through it. Couple little dings on the back from previous owner. Fret work and fit and finish are great, just what we can expect now from Quindao. Has wood binding on neck, similar to the G-400's. The pickups and electronics are good, the pups are kinda hot, but calm down with a turn of the volume knob, they are articulate enough, but I may swap in some vintage winds at some point. I am sure some orange drops and 50's wiring will find their way in, also..
Not sure what to do with the knobs...
TV Yellow may have made it easier for black and white TV, but my Nikon sure doesn't like it...Of course the fingerprints add a lot to it...

I would have bought TV Yellow too had it been available! (You lucky b*stard!)

I think the knobs look just fine! What would you replace them with?

Happy New Guitar Day!

Just thinking out loud about the knobs, nothin else would really look right.

Should just leave it alone and PLAY it....:dude:

Nice! I have those knobs on both of my Specials, I kinda like them. It looks like all you need now is a Tele. :naughty:

I'm going to try a set of Throbak '50s P-90s in one of mine. They are very highly regarded along with Fralin's. I'm not sure if I want to go with the 52/54 set or the 55/56 set. Earlier '50s P-90s had a bit less bite. Mid to latter '50s into the '60s the output became higher.

HNGD :) Nice find!
P90's - YEAH!!!

The only thing that's always bothered me on those specials is the strange looking pick guard that looks misshaped and out of place, but to each his own... :)

The Throbak's do look interesting,
And I have this Tele.. 1 piece African Mahogany body, nice 22 fret Squier Standard neck, Rosewood PG and control plate, and a vintage wound P-90 wired with a cocked wah in one of the positions..

What ?! For 489 $ ?
That's reaaally cheap.
Here in Sweden, I've only found Gibson Juniors for 900+ $ :/.

Yeah, I guess it was a new old stock one lost in their warehouse so... they sold it for cheap. It was the only one.
I almost wrecked my laptop when I saw it was unavailable like two minutes later. Fvcking pissed me off.
The cheapest one I can find now is $699, used and it's red. :(

Thanks for all the kind words!!

In the late 60's my dad bought me an SG/LP Jr from a local music store that I ended up working in for almost 6 years. Sadly it's long gone now, but I always wanted a single cutaway, and this fills that hole. I can't believe how good the workmanship is on this Epi, it really IS a nice guitar.
But this is the guitar I got for 225 back then, not to mention the 25 dollar amp....

Speaking of other guitars with p90s, these Fender Modern Player Jaguars are $299. They're a bit homely though, IMO.
