NGD (this is for my niece) LPJ

It started out 'chocolate (satin)'-
New hardware and trim (the knobs are my least favorite upgrade)-



A scrubbed body and neck, and Tung-oiled to satin.
It looks like it was bead-blasted, but the surface is luxurious.
There is not a mark on this thing-



Medium-fat neck is superb. I think it's handsome as Hell; it plays so well that I kinda hope niece will reject it and take my Tele-



Just a setup and strings, the '61s are very nice.

That is quite different looking, but in a really good way! I love that rubbed out finish look, I'd want to keep it to if I were you...

Thanks, the images aren't color-correct - no, they aren't contrast-correct. There's a lot more depth than is shown here.
At just short of eight and a half pounds, and the neck (maple, and deceptively comfortable),



and the stock pickups, it's a real tease.

I think so, too; the original owner/sellers story is: he bought a 2014 Chocolate LPJ, hated the color, stripped and sanded, applied Tung oil, played it for a couple of years, and sold it to me.

Here's the back (all five pieces)



I would love to take credit, but I don't have the grit to surface one of these, or the good taste to appoint one this way. But I admire the results, and the surface is not unlike any satin finish Gibson. The neck is very playable.

As I said, I'm not a fan of the Tele-style knobs, but I'm going to leave that to the newly 21 year old.
