I've been wanting one of these for years and years, and I finally am blessed enough to have landed one at a really sweet price (mostly 'cause it's got some rough edges, but partly 'cause the seller was feeling "in the holiday spirit" and came down $200 :thumb: )... a Gibby The Paul. Happiness is!

Love it and the case!

The case is from a 70s Univox LP copy, as the seller didn't have the Gibby case. I'm thinking about maybe selling the case and getting a generic case for it. I bet someone in the MIJ-enthusiast crowd has a naked Univox and would love a brand-matched case for it. :)

Double score! That plain headstock with the tuners all worn - looks soo goood! I'd keep the case but if you can get a good deal on it then it may be hard to pass up! It's all about the guitar anyway. Enjoy, and congratulations again!

Very nice looking! Never knew of these before. Are they heavy? Is it a walnut top or solid? HNGD!

Nice man! Happy NGD!
I haven't played one, but they've always looked like some of the nicer lower end Gibbies.
'grats!

It's solid walnut, and not as heavy as a Les Paul (but significantly heavier than my Ibanez ART420). It's a flat top (not carved in an arch like a LP) with reliefs on the front and back along one side, similar to an SG. Gibson was trying in the late 70s to put out a guitar that would be less expensive and easier to manufacture than a maple-on-mahogany Les Paul, but still have some distinctive appeal and be solid enough for gigging musicians to want to use on stage.

Great score! I've been wanting one of those for a long time now too. The GK55 is the closest I've found so far. HNGD!

Nice buy. Those are good players. I was allowed to borrow one of those for a weekend back in 1995. The guitar shop selling it wanted $400 for it, but it would have meant having to sell my '81 Hamer Special, which I wasn't about to part with at the time.

I remember when those came out!
I never did care for the "Firebrand" one.
Methinks you got a good 'un!
