Well anyone that knows me knows how much I love my TH's. The problem (besides cost, and lets not start a TH bash thread please
) is that the color selection is extremely limited. Well about September of last year (When I turned 50) I told myself that I wanted to get a custom LP. I've got what I think are the perfect LP's for me (and some to spare) and thought that the chance of disappointment would be high because its difficult to find the perfect fit. Well after 2 months of deliberation I went down to my local shop and ordered an M2M. The color I initially wanted was a trans version of aged pelham blue. I also wanted a more unique top from the flame and quilts. I submitted my order and made my deposit and waited to hear back if Gibson would build her.
A couple weeks past and yes, they would build it, but they couldnt do the aged pelham as it was too opaque and we wouldnt see the grain. The top wood was pretty easy to select as I wanted a burl. This was the piece I ended up with. Just really dig the specs and spots and the drippy flamey bit on the bottom.
They offered up this color which I also really dug (it was a shade of green I wanted in a previous guitar build, but couldnt get (different story and brand)).
Well, a lot of time passed and I'm doing a lot of wondering and day dreaming about this guitar.
The first thing I see is the Custom Shop Instagram image, and I'm blown away. Its a bit blurry, but it just feeds my desire.
Well, yesterday it showed up. I couldnt be happier. The neck is spot on perfect within the range I had given them (based upon my 3 favorites). The color is just cool, it changes depending on how you look at it and the light hits it. So here's a few outdoor and indoor shots of my new and probably final LP (hahaha).
Almost had a palindrome.
All in all a happy outcome to the M2M experience. I would have liked a bit more communication and involvement, but the finished product is awesome so the story has a happy ending.
Off to play her some more.
