I went down to the local Long & McQuade to see about picking up a bass (today they were having a special, 1/2 off rentals) but when I saw this baby, that was it. I took it into one of their try-out rooms and played it through the 3 amps they had in there (a Deluxe Reverb, an Orange AD30 and a Vox AC30) and the guitar sounded great through all of them. It sang really, the sustain is incredible. I tried out an SG Standard, 61RI and a faded Special for good measure, and the Classic sounded better acoustically than all of them. I'd been wanting a guitar with P-90s for a while, and these ones are wonderful, if I had bought any of the other SGs I wouldve swapped out the pickups in no time, but not with these. It was an impulse buy, but I don't think I will be regretting this one. I'll try to take some better pictures tomorrow, with less glare, the grain in the mahogany is quite nice

Thanks guys, Im stoked, Ive wanted an SG for a long time. About the Champ, I work overnight security at a local tv studio, this is my weekend where I do two 12 hour shifts, and whenever those come up, I try to bring my gear, because I can rock out all night long, at any volume, with no one around. Tonight, this SG, the Champ and me are going to get down

Nice find. I know what you mean about the pickups. I just recently acquired my first P90 equipped guitar ('07 Les Paul Special Faded DC) and it'll be the first time for me that the pickups are going to stay original.

Nice Ben! I've been gassing for one of those for the past month. Everyone that has one, seams to comment on how resonant they are! Makes me want to go listem to LIVE AT LEEDS!

I went thru a big Who phase in high school, I'll have to dust off some of that stuff now haha "Naked Eye" is probably my favorite song by them, and definitely my favorite tone/playing by Townshend.

This guitar does have some serious mojo, the ratio of tone-to-price makes it the best value Gibson IMO When I bought mine, the clerk said it was the last of 4 that they received, so I didn't get a chance to compare it to the others. It has alot better natural tone than the couple of Fadeds I had been eyeing for a while, same for the one Standard they had that I tried (but I can't remember the last time I played an SG Standard that impressed me)

:thumb: Gibson really knows their shit when it comes to P-90s. Im impressed by the white plastic tuners too, they look cheap but they are solid. So far no issues with nut binding or anything (someone call Ripley!)

On the subject of Gibson P90s, do they come with the same 300k vol/500k tone pots as their humbuckers?

sweet :thumb: I take it you swapped the tuners and knobs? I like the look of the witch-hats on the big pickguard SGs
