Picked up a nice plain top lemon burst R8! Have had an itch for a nice plain top for a while, and particularly a lighter shaded one. This one plays really nice, has a nice "bounce" as I call it in the playability - very responsive and articulate. Plugged in, sounds completely different from my R9 - my R9 sounds Tele-like, where as this R8 has more mid focused grit. Pretty neat all the tonal variety amongst the two Reissues. Very touch-sensitive pickups as well, can play soft and clean and strum it harder for dirt without using the knobs. 8 pound 10 ounce weight, feels nice and balanced. Has some nice streaking in the rosewood board and a reddish brown tint to it, which is nice.
The neck is just a hair thicker than my R9 - more so in the shoulder of the neck.

Beautiful guitars, and I’m glad you have left on the pickguards and haven’t top wrapped them
They look like how Les Pauls should
Well done !

Gorgeous! Great plaintop, cool color, and a real vintage vibe! Totally dig it! And a great visual balance to your stunning R9!

Congrats and HNGD!

Arnold Palmer. Hahaha. Nice duo you got there.

Nothing plain about that plain top. Congratulations on your new beauty.
