Almost three years ago to the day I sold my 2013 Traditional to finance some home repairs. Since then I've regretted selling it, so imagine my surprise when I saw it on a local CL ad. I recognized the top immediately, and since I still had the original invoice, it was only a small matter of confirming the serial number. Sure enough it was mine; so I paid the seller a visit and now my first Gibson LP is back in my possession.

The nice thing is, I got it back in virtually the same condition I sold it in. He bought it expecting to learn how to play guitar, but gave it up almost immediately. It sat in its case for the next three years until he decided to sell it to pay for computer parts. It's still got the new nitro smell going on, which I wasn't expecting with a four year old guitar. I babied it when I had it, but this guy just sealed it away in a time capsule for me to dig up years later! :laugh2:

Stuff like this doesn't happen very often, so I don't think I'm going to let this one out of my sight again.

Great story! Many here wish they were so lucky to reconnect with ones they've let go of over the years.

Yummy guitar too :applause::thumb:

That's a nice light burst! Looks like a nice dark board too. Best guitar ever in my opinion!

Yeah, that's a beautiful almost orange finish! Unique! :wow:

Hang on it this time, or expect more smart a$$ comments when you sell it again! :squint:

We're not so apt to forgive double dumbassery, to borrow an Edro word! :D

Nice story. The guy who bought my 71 Deluxe GT from me 25 years ago seems to think it has increased in value quite a bit. When I offer to buy it back he laughs. I'm OK with it because he was my teacher who uses it much more than I would be using it. Good for you to get her back.

Thanks. It's definitely staying put this time. @rjwilson37: it's a lightburst.

Great story, great guitar!

I'm on the other side of the fence.
I once happened to meet the original owner of my Standard that I had bought used.
He had traded his LP (against a drum!) and I bought it a couple of days later.
He said he still regretted letting it go (was 6 or 7 years prior).
I said it wasn't for sale but I would take his name and number down to make him feel better, just in case...
I still have it.
Sorry.

Nice guitar, great story! Have a 13' lightburst that I have been contiplating on selling but feel like I might go though seller remorse. I've put 36th Dimarzio pickups, all aged hardware and it's been professionally Plek'd.
