Just received my second 50's Standard. This one is Heritage Cherry (always wanted that color) and it's mate is a Wildwood Select from a couple of years ago. The WW is 8.41lbs and the new one is 8.78lbs. Both are just exquisite! I tried some Custom Shops but for various reasons we did not get along.

Over many years I have tried many guitars but have settled on 4 (the "core four") and when I was gigging a lot I started acquiring duplicates to take out and I left my favs at home. As part of my retirement planning (few years off yet) I developed the Noah's ark philosophy of having a backup to each of my four favs and now, mission accomplished!

The full ark consists of '59 GE Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins, 135th Anniversary 6118?, the two 50's Standard LPs, a 2000 American Standard Strat (all time favorite guitar,) Ultra Texas Tea Strat, American Professional II Tele and finally a parts Tele. It is a fun colllection.

The new LP is a winner winner chicken dinner, that is to say, I love it!!!

Very nice!
You've done what I'm trying to do twice.
I'm trying to get down to either row plus a 335.

So you are trying to settle on 5? If so, I almost went that direction and I will someday. My "core 4" and a floater. (I have tried so hard to love 335s but alas) For now, I like the ability to change a couple if I want but 8 is my max. It provides some limit in number. I have had more but it makes me crazy! There are 3 absolute keepers in the collection: The '59 Chet RI, Wildwood Select LP (new one is right on par with it though) and the 2000 Strat or "Woody." Woody has been refretted twice and now sports stainless frets and the only thing left is original is the wood. LOL!

Your new one, to me, is the best looking of the whole impressive bunch, with the look that was intended when the Les Paul burst was launched. It's also beautiful in an authentic and genuine way the faded ones can never be. That's really a great guitar. I'm glad you're ready for the apocalypse. In these challenging times, we all need to be well supplied with guitars!
