Update! I stopped by Gruhn’s today and got new pic! “Does this guitar make me look proud?” Haha.

Cheers!

Unfortunately, the pic doesn't show for me! :( (windows 10 laptop / Microsoft Edge browser )

Correction. Works now!

That dark cherry is very much like the few standards i saw in the mid sixties. Very cherry they were.
That thing is sweet !

Just a beautiful guitar, thanks for all the pictures. I really enjoyed those.

On the birth year thing ... that means I need a ‘68

George doesn't look too happy.
For George? Man, he’s laughing out loud! Haha.

Seriously, he’s very kind, and was extremely welcoming to me. The fact that he remembered the guitar from years ago is amazing. Cheers!

I don’t think I’ve mentioned that she now has a name: Soul Patch! Here’s another new photo of Micheael from 440 Instruments in Augusta, GA. trying her out. When he was finished he said, “Damn! there’s not a bad note on that thing anywhere!”

UPDATE!

I finally got the courage to do something I've been wanting to do since the day she found me! Remember, most 53 Les Pauls had no serial number, so when this one came into the factory in 1963, there was no original number to duplicate, so they left it blank.

After speaking with some very knowledgeable friends and collectors regarding the font, spacing, etc. we designed the stamp and ordered it. The day it arrived, I promptly chickened out. After all, this is the original 1963 finish, and the ink is permanent. I only get one shot at it.

Finally, last night I found a quiet spot and decided to go for it.

I was born on January 29, 1963, and while she will always be Soul Patch, she now has a second name...

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting 3 0129!
