Hey all! I recently received my new LP Deluxe Goldtop limited reissue. These appear to be on clearance (or awfully close) at this point, $1499 at Zzounds and American Musical Supply. I have one that I am converting to an 'almost 1950s' spec with nearly everything replaced. But first, this one. I've only made cosmetic changes...new switch tip, plastics and knobs. I was going for '70s at first, but decided I don't want pointers, I love the amber tips and I'm going to leave the Neutrik jack on this one for the time being...so now it's not really '70s at all. :hmm: Anyway, here it is:

That looks very nice!
I would have thought these would have maple neck though.
Happy NGD!

Congrats, I am very interested in this guitar as I have the exact same one coming Monday from American Musical Supply too. I already got one and exchanged it for the one that is coming. It's as pretty as any guitar I can think of and in particular I love the blondish wood on the back and neck. I'm crazy for the mini humbucker sound on Deluxe's and Goldtops so this is an amazing combination me thinks. Again it is beautiful. BTW what were you able to purchase yours for if you don't mind me asking? Also please forgive my ignorance but what is the difference in the plastics you put on and the ones that came stock on the guitar?

It was $1499.

The only difference is color. I wanted to avoid the band-aid 'cream' that comes on so many newer Gibsons. I am modding my other one to have P90s and am replacing everything - full '50s style wiring with braided cable, PiO bumble bee caps, period correct output jack, amber tip, and historic plastic. For $1499 plus $150-200 in upgrades, it will look a lot like a '50s LP with P90s for $1500 less! Can't wait! I'll have it done this weekend if all goes according to plan.

Thanks for the reply, I am sure your P-90 version is going to be a killer. Did you try to talk them off the $1499 price at all or did you purchase it off their web site itself?

$250 off? :eek2:

Ugh! No I didn't. I was so happy it was at $1499. Haha! How did you get such a discount? I guess I should have called with some of the coupon codes, but with the holidays and everything, I just didn't make the time.

P.S. Music123 was out of stock by the time I ordered, or I would have tried them.

Some dealer had a coupon for $150 off the $1500
That made it $1350
Music123 matched that price and gave their 123% or 23% off for another $100
last week.....Yep now they are sold out and you still got a good deal......JT

Well that's the basic reason why I originally asked what you ended up paying for yours, I just wondered why they didn't cut you a better deal. To be honest it was Johnny's original NGD post about his deal that spurred me to consider the purchase in the first place. I wasn't even in the market for a guitar till I read his post but I've always been triple crazy about the Deluxe and Goldtops so I had to see what I could do.

I tried to get his Music123 deal but they said they were out of stock for good on that model when I called, so I rang up AMS after seeing they had it in stock but I didn't have a price for them to match or beat and no discount coupon. They had the guitar listed at $1499 and we haggled back and forth a bit till they finally gave me what they said was their rock bottom price of $1349. They wouldn't budge any further so I told them I'd think about it while I looked for a better price and I'd get back to them if I was interested.

I just watched TV for about 30 minutes called them back and said, ok if you take off another $20 and do it for $1329 no tax, free shipping we have a deal, and they came back and said they'd do it for that price. I thought $170 off $1499 was pretty darn good for a Gibson Deluxe and that I might not have the chance to get a Deluxe Goldtop again for that price if I didn't pull the trigger then so I made the deal. I only missed Johnny's mark by $80 with no price match and the cool thing is they split the payments into three parts, a $667 initial payment and then two payments of $331 each over then next two months with no credit check or anything like that.
