I have this one on the way, a 2000 LP Special SL with humbuckers in remarkable condition for a 21 year old Gibson. I had the natural finish version years ago, traded it towards an LP Standard Plus Top, then decided I was a slab guitar guy and regretted the trade.

I love the simplicity of these models, but have forgotten most of the specs, and hope you guys can fill in the blanks for me. 490/498T? Neck carve? Weight?

I like the belly cut. My 2014 Melody Maker has that and it makes it more comfortable.

Those early run faded series guitar were and are amazing. Those satin finishes feel great and looked better in my biased opinion than the later ones.

If I remember correctly those had a combo of 490t/490r pickups, but I may be off too after so many years.

I also want to say that was when Gibson was making both 50’s and 60’s neck profiles on a lot of models, so without the guitar in hand or the sticker on the truss rod cover it’s hard to say which it will have.

I found some specs on an archived GC site. It has the 490R & 498T pups, which I may swap for 57 Classics. I had SGs with both, and thought the Classics had a sweeter sound.
Thoughts?

Nice!
That looks an LP Special Faded with Humbuckers.

I had a 1998 LP Special SL in the past.
Has a polyurethane gloss finish.
SL = Sans Lacquer

Wait wait wait, I didn't know that gibson had poly finishes?

Yes. Here's a link to a response from Gibson customer service:

They usually weigh around eight lbs, but who knows?

Fresh off the USPS truck, no cleanup, and it's nice. Turns out its a 2007, not 2000 like I thought, but not a problem for me. Very much un-messed with, with just a couple tiny dings. One oddness- it looks like a plug on the back, like someone moved the strap button, then plugged it. But when I look real closely, the grain seems to be spiraling around it, like a knot. If it's a plug, and it's been touched up, it's really well done- looks factory to me. Nice and light too- 7 lbs. 9 oz.

No fret buzz or choking, but D string nut slot was tight; a light filing and some friction reducer fixed that. Powerful sound!
